Description
Financials: £800 (room) + £140 bills PCM, with an £800 (1 month’s rent) deposit and the usual reference checks. It’s a year-long joint tenancy, with a six month break clause in June and two months notice. The landlord accepts those on benefits.
Timings: Available now, with latest move-in date being 26 January. Am pretty flexible with viewing times and am in London over Christmas 👍🏼
Location: the flat is on Lyndhurst Road in Wood Green, it’s a super friendly road with a surprising number of gays (something in the air). Fun trivia: Nikki Grahame used to live on this road! It’s near the quiet Bowes Park area, which has a useful National Rail stop (10 mins to Finsbury Park) and 5 minutes beyond is Bounds Green on the Piccadilly Line. Nearby is Myddleton Road, a charming little high street with indie shops, cafes, and bars, all with friendly staff. There is also a monthly market there. Also nearby is Wolves Lane, a community centre/greenhouse that sells fresh fruit, veg, herbs, and plants, and they welcome volunteers to tend to the grounds & gardens. They also host lefty nature-based events & workshops if you’re feeling green-fingered!
Accessibility: Ground floor flat, with one small step outside front door. The bedroom is immediately to the left as you come in. Further in, there is one small step leading up into the living room and another into the spare room. Can easily fit ramps in each instance.
About the room: Fairly big room with wooden floors and three large windows. South facing so the light is ok. Furnished: comes with a bed frame (but no mattress, the green one in the pic is mine), huge wardrobe, a bedside table, and x4 bookshelves. Would just need to buy a mattress. Can look into removing some of the furniture if its not needed as it's a little cluttered, but thought we thought we'd keep as much as possible for the next person so they can take what they need!
About the flat generally: Heats up quickly so its very cosy. Shower pressure & temperature is heavenly. Great storage; full of cupboards. Wooden floors throughout, so easy to clean and good for anybody with dust allergies. There is a small spare room which is used as an office (you are welcome to join me in there if you have a desk of your own and work from home, or just use my desk on the days that I'm in the office) and is ideal for friends/family staying over (the green futon is usually in here). There is a small garden. Full disclosure: upstairs neighbours can be heavy-footed!
About me: I’m Frankie, 32, he/they, male-presenting atm and I femme it up sometimes depending on the situation. Openly gay and active in the queer community. Grew up in London/St Albans and speak English and Italian. Work in illustrated publishing (TV & film, sometimes science and nature), so naturally I have a prolific book-hoarding problem. Love cooking, reading, playing Switch, and seeing friends. I’m a socialist-anarchist, so I pitch in with the community when I am able (Wolves Lane, Street’s Kitchen), although I am recovering from long Covid which has knocked me for six so not able to go out as much as I would like atm!
Looking for: Previous housemate & I got on like a house on fire (he is moving in with his boyf up the road to Palmers Green) and we would spend time together watching the odd film or TV show, so this flat would suit somebody similar: a fellow queer creative in their 30s who is also left-wing (for easy capability - it’s a small flat!), and who is tidy, chilled, social, and up for spending time together in the evenings would be molto bene. I’ve lived with gay men for the past 5 years so would love to switch it up and live with a gay woman (or anybody non-cis) if possible to even out the gender balance! I’m recovering from long Covid so very much looking for chill vibes in a housemate!
