Double room available in Brixton Hill flat

My current flatmate is moving out so I’m looking for someone to take over his room in this two-bedroom flat.

I’m looking for a tidy and respectful flatmate who’s ideally a young professional in their early-to-mid 20s.

The room comes with a double bed, chest of drawers, bedside table and built-in wardrobe. My flatmate is also up for leaving his desk (for free) if you’d like to keep it.

The flat has a spacious living room with plenty of storage space. The kitchen is well-sized, comes with gas hobs and a washing machine/ dryer (no dishwasher unfortunately). The bathroom is just a standard bathroom haha.

Rent is £1000pcm and bills come to around £150 to £200. The landlord/ property manager are pretty chill and get repairs done fairly promptly. References are required so you need to be earning at least £30,000 per annum and have the right to rent in the UK.

The lease is a periodic (rolling) tenancy agreement so we’re just going to change the names on the contract. Move-in date is anytime from 11th December onwards (when rent is due) but there might be a bit of flexibility a couple days before.

The flat is a 15 minute walk from Brixton tube station (or five minute bus/ cycle). Big Sainsburys, Tesco and Lidl are all within 15 minutes. Tesco Express/ Sainsburys Local are like three minutes away. There’s also a Morley’s, curry house, pizza place, pub, Chinese and chippy two minutes away. Brockwell Park is also about ten minutes away.

About me:

I’m 23 and work as a journalist in central London so I commute into the office most days but usually have a day off or work from home once a week. There’s space for a desk in the room if you work from home a day or two a week but please no full-time remote workers.

Like every person on Spareroom I’m quiet, tidy, clean and respectful; happy to stick to myself but up for a drink and socialising every now and then. But in all seriousness I’m quite easy-going and laidback. I’m looking for someone who isn’t just going to be a person I live with but could actually be a friend as well.

Ideal flatmate would be a bloke in their 20s who pulls their weight, enjoys a pub night, is up for cooking or having a drink together every now and then and watching stuff. Bonus points if you’re from outside the M25.

Absolutely no smokers, vaping or drug-taking in the flat.

I’m a massive film and TV nerd so if you’re equally into movies then please do get in touch. I’ll happily watch anything decent - whether that be the latest Marvel movie, a Hollywood classic or a foreign arthouse film. I can offer all the streaming services a man could dream of and a sizable blu-ray collection. Not a big fan of sports so no gym bros please.

I love cooking for friends, trying new recipes and hosting dinner parties. Not into clubbing or raves but do enjoy sinking a few pints down the pub or going bar hopping on the weekend. Also up for having flat parties or hosting pre-drinks every once in a while. Basically, just normal stuff for a twenty-something.

Important: I am a night owl and do shift work - earlys, lates, nights and the odd weekend. I’m happy to share my rota with you but if you’re someone who’s a light sleeper, in bed by 10pm and up with the birds at 5am then this is NOT the flat share for you. The rooms are spacious but the flat is still on the smaller side and sometimes I don’t get home till midnight if I’m working late.
