Description
Hello! We're three professional women in our 30s, and we're looking for a fourth to join us in our house between Brixton and Clapham.
Our biggest bedroom is coming up, and we'd love to find someone lovely to take it.
THE ROOM
It's the largest room in the house, easily fits a double bed, a desk and a wardrobe, and you'll still have plenty of space to move around. No squeezing past the bed to get to the window.
THE HOUSE
A three-storey terrace with a separate living room, a small patio out the back, and two bathrooms, one with a shower, one with a bath, which is a bit of a luxury when there are four of you. It honestly feels spacious for the four of us. It's a lived-in house with the wear and tear you'd expect, but it's comfortable, it's home, and the rent is genuinely reasonable for the space and the postcode.
THE AREA
We're right in between Brixton and Clapham, which is the best bit really, two tube lines within a 10-minute walk (Victoria from Brixton, Northern from Clapham North), and no shortage of places to eat, drink or wander on a weekend. Lidl is a minute down the road for when you've forgotten milk, and there's a big Tesco five minutes away for a proper shop.
A LITTLE ABOUT US
Mumba is a theatre director; very into arts and culture, and always up for a good film or TV show. She's in and out a fair bit and travels for work sometimes. She loves to cook, and has recently got into a bit of gardening out on the patio.
Beth is a Kiwi and a secondary school music teacher; she sings in a few choirs so she's out a few evenings a week, and when she's home she likes to read or curl up in the lounge with a good series.
Ana is Portuguese and an Executive Assistant in private equity; she's in the office Monday to Friday. She uses her time at home to recharge, you'll usually find her in her room or pottering about with headphones on, listening to music or catching up on the news.
HOW THE HOUSE WORKS
We get on really well and always end up having a proper catch-up when we bump into each other in the kitchen, but we should be honest that this isn't a house where we cook together or have film nights. We're all busy during the week and we come home to switch off. Everyone here values their own space, and we're all good about giving each other the same. It's a quiet, respectful, low-drama house, and we like it that way.
Friends come occasionally round but not often, and people have had someone stay the odd night or weekend, we just give each other a heads-up in the group chat, and it's never once been a problem.
WHO WE'D LOVE TO MEET
Another woman, 30+, professional, tidy and considerate, someone who's happy with their own company but friendly for a chat when we bump into each other. As we all work mainly out of the house, the house suits someone who works from home max one day a week so we keep balance in the bills when the winter comes.
THE NUMBERS
Rent is £885 a month, and that includes water and council tax.
Bills on top come to about £50–60 each per month: gas and electricity (around £40), internet (around £12), a cleaner who comes every two weeks, and the shared bits and bobs; cleaning products, bin bags, salt, cooking oil and so on.
If any of this sounds like you, do get in touch, we'd love to show you around.
