Description
Gorgeous, HUGE double room for 1 person in a beautiful 3 storey house sharing with 3 others in calm, happy and kind home.
You’d be sharing with 1 other lodger & the 2 homeowners. We are open, considerate, inclusive, take great pride in nurturing a communicative and respectful environment and have formed great and precious relationships with lodgers - though none forced. We have a clean, sweet & quite shy dog that is part of our home, but who always sticks very close to us like Velcro. She is Jesse Pinkman.
Your room has a lovely view of the back garden, built-in wardrobes, lots of storage, carpeting and central heating and is fully furnished.
The house:
- clean and calm, no drama home, where the atmosphere is positive and very peaceful
- the house has a homely feel, with personality and warmth
- it also has great central heating & a bright and airy feel
- It is a Georgian house with generous dimensions
- natural light is ever present and lots of plants 🪴 windows and space.
Dining/ lounge:
A tulip dining table overlooks the back garden in the bay window in the high-ceiling dining/living room where you can also relax on a choice of a couple of generous sofas to read, chill and chat.
Kitchen:
It's generous with lots of space to prepare your meals, there's an AGA cooker, 2 fridge freezers, a dishwasher, a washing machine and the kitchen overlooks the back garden.
Bathroom:
You would share a bathroom with just one other lodger - the bathroom is kept very clean, is large with a bath/shower, basin and WC, underfloor heating, storage space and towel heater.
Garden:
We have a great back garden with a table and chairs, a front garden with storage space for a bike and a great front stoop for sitting out on a sunny or autumn day watching the world go by with a hot cup of tea/ coffee!
A fabulous cleaner comes once a week for several hours and vacuum cleans ALL the rooms and shared spaces, so there are no cleaning rotas to deal with, just emptying dishwashers and carrying out the odd recycling bin. So, it's well-looked after home.
We're friendly and chilled-out people working in digital, civil service and the hospitality sector.
We are a mixed bunch 1 from Zimbabwe/London; Colombia/London and Scottish. We are open-minded, pretty independent, we like sharing the house, share occasional dinner or coffee together as well as enjoying our own time and the only drama we like is a really good Scandinavian crime/drama series. 2 straight women and one straight man - all LGBTQ allies. One of our lodgers described the atmosphere as baseline enthusiasm with a big pinch of chill - so if calm and content is what you’re looking for, this may just be the place for you.
Happy to be sociable or a cuppa once in a while and we all very much have our own social lives going on (who doesn’t?) so it’s not an anonymous house at all but we all respect the fact that everyone needs their own space at times and have their own stuff going on.
As required by SpareRoom FYI: The house falls within the Council Tax Band of G within Southwark.
About our dog:
Aged 6 she doesn’t go into other people's rooms or the bathrooms. She is washed regularly, and the only evidence of a dog is her food bowl.
Camberwell Grove is a beautiful road with huge old trees and it’s a really friendly, creative neighbourhood. We know all of our neighbours and love the friendly vibe and good energy. It’s close to Peckham, East Dulwich, Herne Hill, Dulwich, Nunhead and Brixton and loads of fab parks.
Transport links are:
Lime bikes and scooters seconds away and Denmark Hill station is a 5-minute walk with links to to Farringdon, Victoria and East London etc. and East Dulwich station (7 mins walk away) has trains to London Bridge. Buses are the 40, 185 and 176 right to the end of our road and it's a well-serviced area in terms of shops and quick trips to Brixton, Peckham and Elephant and Castle.
