The flat is on Camberwell Church Street above a restaurant unit. The room is basically unfurnished, and is on the top floor of the flat. It is a fair size, so has enough space to fit a double bed, desk and wardrobe. It is at the back of the flat, and so is protected from the street noise.
The flat is itself very spacious, with a large eat-in kitchen with plenty of storage (you would get half a fridge, your own cupboard etc), and a big additional living/dining room which gets loads of light. It’s a wonderful street to live on, full of friendly local business and great affordable places to eat. We do value the space as our home and do lots of cooking, and occasionally board games and craft nights.
While the rent is cheap, the flat has had some problems. We have had issues with mice and previously cockroaches, though the latter has got a lot better since the restaurant below us has closed. Generally we all like to muck in with maintenance of the flat, make minor repairs ourselves and we’re looking for someone willing to do the same. We have a fortnightly cleaning rota, and all try to keep communal spaces as clean as possible.
We are looking for someone long-term to initially sublet, with a view that you will join the contract as soon as that is possible. We rent through an agency, who don’t want to process a change of sharer right now, but we will work on getting you on the tenancy agreement as soon as we can - we’re actively in discussion with the agency about this.
We’re not able to take on couples or pets, and you would need to (down the line) pass referencing with the agency who would be looking for someone who is earning a regular income and has a rental history.
