Description

The room to rent is an upstairs bedroom, facing onto the back garden. Storage space includes built-in drawers and a wardrobe. There is a double bed, bedside and occasional chair in the room. As this is only for a short let (I'm going travelling for a few weeks) I am happy to leave bedding and towels as long as everything is washed at the end of the tenancy.

I'm looking for:

- Someone between the ages of 18 - 30 in need of a place in London for 3-4 weeks (ideally 3) starting from Wednesday 20th September.

The property:

26 Love Walk is a totally unique home and location. Built in 1962, the house is detached, and surrounded by a tall brick wall. Entry is gained through a door in this wall, from the pedestrianised Love Walk. The house is fronted by a long front garden and a porch, with an equally deep back garden, in which grows a tall, mediterranean pine tree. The interior is in a minimalist '60s style, with a slightly Scandinavian feel, thanks to the light wood floors and staircase. A large living room and dining area spans the back of the house, with a working fireplace, and a small window in the wall between this room and the kitchen allows light to pass through the house. French doors open onto the back garden.

The room:

The bedroom that we're looking to rent has a window facing over the back garden. The ceiling is gently sloping. The room is south-facing, and so is not hit directly by the sun in the mornings, but is nonetheless bright and airy. From its windows, you can see the back of another large townhouse, and the edges of the Maudsley Hospital grounds. As it does not face onto a road, it is also pleasantly quiet at night. A cupboard provides space for clothes. There are also a built-in drawers, a bedside table and an occasional chair (handy to put your clothes on!)

The area:

Camberwell is a great place to live - it's filled with people, shops, pubs and restaurants. It's a cosmopolitan area, which is reasonably close to the centre of town, and has much better transport connections than many other areas in Zone 2. Love Walk runs along the north side of the Maudsley Hospital. To the east is Grove Lane, and Peckham, to the West is Denmark Hill, and Brixton. The property lies at the western end of the road. Transport is excellent. 10 minutes to the south is Denmark Hill station, which is connected to the London Overground, taking you up to Shoreditch and Dalston. Trains to Victoria and Blackfriars are frequent, both taking around 10 minutes to reach their destination. Alternatively, buses to Oval and Elephant and Castle are more or less constant, the former being 10 - 15 minutes away, the latter being 15-20 minutes away. The 176 stops at the end of Love Walk and runs 24 hours, from the Strand via Waterloo. Both Brixton and Peckham are around 5 minutes away by bus.

About the flatmates:

All of us are in our mid 20s, working in design, education and film. We're friendly, relaxed and enjoy spending time in the house, eating together and generally being sociable. We'd love to find someone who can join in with this environment.
