Description
We’re looking for a mid-week housemate. Someone in London for work 2–3 nights a week who wants a reliable, comfortable base rather than a crash pad.
The house is a four-bedroom Victorian terrace on a quiet leafy street between Clapham Common and Clapham High Street stations. Mornings are more dog walkers and decent coffee than chaos. If you’re into fitness, the Common next door is ideal for running and summer outdoor classes. There is a well-run leisure centre on our street with a gym and swimming pool, along with upscale studios including 1Rebel and Arma. In the evening, there is a strong mix of pubs, wine bars and restaurants including Michelin veterans like Sorella on our street. Tube (Northern line) and overground are a 5–7 minute walk, getting you into the City or West End in about 15 minutes, while Clapham Junction is just one stop. It is extremely well connected while maintaining the distinct neighbourhood feel Clapham is so loved for.
The room is on the first floor with its own private bathroom (a separate bathroom with a large bath and lavatory). There is a comfortable double bed (140x200) with brushed-cotton linen and an entire pillow collection, blackout blinds, a desk, ample storage, good lighting and fast Wi-Fi. Towels are fresh, the room is kept in good order and everything simply works. There is a Nespresso and kettle in the room for mornings when coffee in pyjamas feels preferable to immediate civilisation.
We are two gay male professionals, an architect and a brand strategist, in our 30s and 50s. We travel, go to theatre and live music most weeks, sail when we can and try to balance exercise with an enthusiastic appreciation of restaurants. It is mostly our waistlines that get put to work. One collects classic cars while the other finds a new hobby every other week. The house is not a party house and not a revolving door, though we are sociable and enjoy good company. It is simply a home that runs smoothly.
We value an atmosphere that feels settled, respectful and easy. You can keep to yourself after work or share a drink and conversation if the moment feels right. No pressure either way.
We are hoping to find someone established in their own life, here during the week, who appreciates a well-managed home and mutual consideration. Someone comfortable in their own skin, independent and uncomplicated.
If you are looking for a calm, maintained part-time home in London, somewhere you can arrive and not have to think about the basics or comfort, this may suit you very well.
Send a message with a little about yourself and your routine while in town.
