Description
Note: the photos were taken professionally just before we moved in, the flat has a lot more life and colour to it now!
A cosy, furnished double room in a bright flat by Stoke Newington Common, sharing with a couple. Perfect if you’re newly arrived in London and need a base while you find your feet, or just looking for something short term.
🛌 The Room
Everything you need to live and work comfortably: double bed, desk with optional monitor, and clothes storage. The room catches lovely morning light.
🏡 The Flat
The rest of the flat is open, airy, full of colour. The open-plan kitchen and living area is well-equipped and Ingrid loves to cook. There’s a big TV with all streaming services and a Nintendo Switch, great for film nights or a gaming session. The large shared bathroom has a bath and shower combo with reliably great water pressure and hot water that never runs out. We have a fab balcony, it’s a quiet sun trap overlooking greenery and wildlife that you’ll want to spend a lot of time on. There’s also rooftop access with stunning views across London. Secure building with a bike shed. We love it.
🌳 The Neighbourhood
We’re right by Stoke Newington Common, steps from the Royal Sovereign. Walking distance to Stoke Newington Church Street, Clissold Park, Hackney Downs, London Fields, and the River Lea. Three overground stations nearby (Clapton, Rectory Road, and Stoke Newington) plus the 106 bus to Hackney and Finsbury Park for tube connections, right outside the door.
👫Who You’ll Be Sharing With
We’re Ciaran (he/him, 36) and Ingrid (she/her, 31), a British/Aussie couple, together four years. Ciaran works in mental health and works from home two days a week; Ingrid works at a university and is wfh around three days. Ciaran produces music, plays squash, climbs, and is studying to become a clinical psychologist. Ingrid loves cooking, wildlife, fantasy novels, board games, pub quizzes, craft days, and countryside walks.
We’re usually out and about two or three nights a week and weekends tend to be pretty social, but we love coming home to a peaceful space. We’re not clean freaks but do like to keep the place tidy. No cleaning rota currently but open to figuring something out. Friends over roughly once a week, no regular parties but not opposed if it’s communicated in advance.
We’re currently between career transitions, travel plans, and returning to study, so looking for a short term lodger to help soften the financial impact while we figure it all out.
🥳 Who We’re Looking For
We don’t expect you to be our new bestie, but it’d be lovely to share the occasional meal, park beers, or a countryside walk. Beyond that, ideally someone who:
• Works a few days in the office, isn’t home 24/7 (it’s a smallish flat and we want to avoid living on top of each other)
• Is financially responsible and communicates openly
• Is mindful of energy consumption and recycling
• LGBT friendly, kind & respectful of diversity
• Non-smoker please (Ingrid recently quit so its best to not have it in the home)
🧐 The Details
• £900/month, all bills included (gas, electric, water, council tax, fast broadband)
• Short let, flexible on length, up to around 3/4 months
• Flexible on move in date.
Drop us a message and tell us a bit about yourself & the type of place you’re looking for. Please also include a bit about your work schedule including any WFH days. Thanks!
