Description
Hello there!
We're looking for a 4th housemate to join us in our lovely home in Crystal Palace! I've put all the details below but real quick the highlights are that we're an LGBTQ+, pro-Palestine, artsy-fartsy household. We love a party but the house itself is a very chilled space. It's in a great location and it costs £503.83 pcm. Bon appétit...
LOCATION
We are located just off of the Crystal Palace Triangle (at the top of Woodland Road), where there are loads of independent shops, restaurants, cafes, charity shops, a cinema, a big Sainsbury's, weekend markets etc all on our doorstep. Crystal Palace Park - containing the Sports Centre, Gym, Pools, Victorian Dinosaurs, football pitches, a skate park etc - is also a 3 min walk own the road.
Transport wise, we are [according to GoogleMaps] an 8 min walk to Crystal Palace Station (for both the Windrush Line and fast trains to Victoria/London Bridge), and a 7 min walk to Gipsy Hill Station, as well as a 4 min walk to Crystal Palace Bus Station.
THE HOUSE/THE ROOM
The house is a gorgeous Edwardian maisonette just off of the Crystal Palace Triangle. We have a large communal living room and a large communal kitchen, both very bright and sunny, with large sash windows. There is an incredible amount of storage in the house, with large cupboards in the hallways as well as an attic. Although we don't have a garden, we have a lot of houseplants and the park is just a stones throw away!
The kitchen has everything you might need including large cupboards for your own personal food (and we also bulk-buy / share things like Olive Oil, salt, cleaning supplies etc). I am a vegetarian, but the other 2 eat meat.
The room is a bright, unfurnished (although I think the departing housemate is up for leaving their bed if you would like) medium-sized double bedroom. This room also comes with a large cupboard in the hallway to use as a wardrobe.
We do, unfortunately only have one (newly renovated) bathroom, but I would say we are very communicative in our house WhatsApp to make sure everyone gets the bathroom when they need.
US (CURRENT HOUSEMATES)
We are 3 LGBTQ+ professionals working in different industries. Alex works for the forestry commission, Jack works in publishing and I am a composer and pianist. I'd say we all spend about half our time working from home. We are not in each-others pockets, but there tends to always be someone in the kitchen to chat to on a lunch break or when you get home at the end of the day. Although we do like to hit the rave(!!), the house is a quiet peaceful supportive place for all of us. We enjoy all the things people enjoy; movies, books, martial arts, climbing, music (I'm a big Musical Theatre guy, apologies), nature, cooking, partying, and politics, painting and we are a pro-Palestine household.
ADMIN
The rent is £503.83 pcm. Bills (Council Tax, Water, Electric, Internet, Gas) all come to around £150.00 pcm (so it's a total of £650.00 pcm all in). The room is available from July 18th but I'm sure there can be some flexibility on the specific move in date, and we have ample space if you need to store stuff here earlier.
We don't have any pets, but our landlord has said that he's open to pets, so long as the pet owner is happy to take responsibility for any carpet damage etc. Although, again, no garden!
The contract is a year long contract that renews every September, but our landlord has always been completely chill about people moving out whenever so long as they can find a replacement!
ANYHOW! Please do let us know a bit about you, your story, what you're into and up to, what you're looking for from a house!
