0-5 minutes walk away
Description
The block is on a quiet side street and isn't in any way noisy or bustling, but it's just a few minutes from the action of Dalston. The block as a whole is home to a wide variety of people including a fashion designer, a club DJ, a web designer/artist, musicians, architects and several families.
There's everything you need right here, including a secure bike storage room; a lift; huge trash disposal area; easy road access if you need to pick up or drop off items from a vehicle; a couple of Zipcars available for rent across the road; and a large supermarket/grocery shop right underneath. In less than five minutes' walk you have every possible type of food (Turkish, Hawaiian, Mexican, Spanish, Chinese, pizza and the numerous hipster cafe hangouts)... and, my personal favourite, the many historic pound shops of the area.
Transport is really good, with Dalston Kingsland and Dalston Junction Overground just footsteps away (each just a few stops away from Underground lines) ...plus a variety of buses to take you into Shoreditch and the West End day and night.
The flat is a good size and has a balcony with a decent view heading East. Kitchen has dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, electric oven, gas hob, microwave etc. Really hot water in the bathroom/shower with good water pressure...gas central heating...the flat is nice and cool throughout this hot summer but is also never cold during the winter.
The flat is fully furnished by me, but you're more than welcome to add your own touches - I want this to feel like home.
About me: I work in politics, and have a background in NGO work. I’m pretty passionately Green (ran for councillor last year and came second, ‘tis my tiny claim to fame), so if you’re rabidly rightwing we might not get on tremendously well. Like a lot of people around here, I have a pretty international background and am either Scottish or Nigerian, dependent upon context, my mood, and who is asking. :-)
I'm not prescriptive about what walk of life a potential flatmate comes from but I would probably lean towards someone who has a day job outside the flat. I wouldn't want to live with someone who wants to smoke in the flat, but we have a balcony that has always amply served my need for nicotine.
This is a LGBTQIA+ friendly flat and vegetarians/vegans are welcome, just please be aware that I eat meat and intend to continue doing so.
Although I like my wine and am not averse to occasional planned social occasions or partying, this definitely isn't a party flat and I like to be respectful to my neighbours. I'm not up for regular unplanned parties or large groups of people turning up late at night without warning.
No agency fees, or anything like that. Bills are included in the rent and come to about £80 (each) a month. As I don't have a TV or licence, if you needed a TV you'd have to deal with that yourself. I do, however, own a lovely projector + Netflix and Amazon Prime, so binge watching is never far away!
I have a lovely cleaner (also included in the rent) who comes once a fortnight.
Very flexible with regards to moving dates, but would ideally like all this sorted fairly soon, with a move in date on or just after 20 October. Just drop me a line for more information!
