New Homeshare Opportunity:
We are delighted to offer a lovely Homeshare opportunity for someone to live very comfortably and affordably in West London, close to shops, cafes and transport links, in return for providing around 10 hours a week of practical support around the home and companionship, and an overnight reassuring presence to an older lady.
What the Opportunity involves:
In return for the low-cost accommodation (£240 per month), we are looking to match our warm and family-orientated homeowner with a bright and friendly female sharer (ideally 30+) who is happy to provide some daily companionship and practical support, and a reassuring presence at night. No personal care is required or permitted.
Our homeowner is in her mid-80’s, an intelligent, sociable and independent lady who is very close to her family (her daughters take turns to visit at weekends and occasionally stay over). She has had a very interesting, adventurous life and in her career worked in a hospital setting as well as in market research. She has travelled extensively and enjoys exploring historical buildings, cities, stately homes, and cathedrals.
She is in good physical health and active and aims to go out every day, walking or by public transport to talks at various cultural (arts and history) societies, to U3A, coffee mornings and afternoon teas, and she volunteers at a heritage property. She is a regular listener of Radio 4 and enjoys theatre, classical concerts, tv dramas and documentaries. She has had a recent dementia diagnosis which is in early stages.
Our homeowner is used to sharing her home as she has had mature students staying with her over the years and is now looking to homeshare with a bright, tidy and considerate female, who is either working on a hybrid or full-time basis outside the home or studying for a master’s or PhD.
Someone who is responsible, patient, friendly and helpful, who is interested in history, culture and politics and current events, and would enjoy sharing some time and interesting conversation with the homeowner. Our homeowner does enjoy her own company and space mostly but would enjoy some daily catching up and meaningful conversation, sharing a meal maybe a couple of times a week and going out for walks together.
Practical support will include helping with any IT or technology issues, perhaps cooking to share a few simple evening meals, watering the indoor plants, occasional appointment reminders and feeding the cat while the Homeowner is away, but mostly this is about providing a reassuring presence at night.
Our homeowner has a quiet and sweet cat. Unfortunately, other cats are not welcome.
We are looking to match this Homeshare opportunity soon. If it is of interest, please message us, telling us about yourself, your work/study situation, and interests, and particularly why you consider that you would be well suited to this opportunity. Thank you.
** Cost: £240 per month**
This is a monthly facilitation fee for our matching and ongoing monitoring service. You do NOT pay any rent to the Homeowner. There is also a contribution of £60 per month towards energy bills and council tax.
