Description

My 11-year-old son and I are looking for someone new to share our lovely, homely three-bed house in East Dulwich.

About the room/house:

It's a good sized double with a generous wardrobe – it’s fully furnished, but there can be some flexibility in that. There’s loads of storage in the house (both in the attic and in the shed outside), a spacious sitting room and kitchen to share, and ample on-street parking (as well as space in the shed if you need to store a bike). The main bathroom is shared, but there’s an extra toilet downstairs.

The house is on a quiet street in a lovely area within easy walking distance of both East Dulwich and North Dulwich stations as well as Lordship Lane. It’s a short cycle ride up the cycle path to King’s College Hospital and a quick bus ride to Brixton.

The rent includes all bills, including speedy fibre optic broadband, TV licence, council tax, bells, whistles, and the rest.

Who we’re looking for:

Ideally, we’d like to share with another mature professional, although a post-grad would work well too - someone kind, clean, tidy, and respectful who wants a quiet, comfy place to call home. Obviously, you need to be child-friendly, but don't worry, I won't be asking you to babysit - you may get a few random facts about manga comics with your breakfast though.

As you’ll need to be added to the tenancy, we’d prefer someone who wants to stay for at least six months (I'm willing to consider shorter terms, but this would be need to be discussed with the landlord). Our current housemate is moving out after more than a year because he's just bought a new flat.

More about us:

We're relatively new arrivals in London, moving here from Wales in 2016 so that I could take an MA at Goldsmiths. After graduating, I freelanced as a film editor and translator for a while, and I now work full-time in a non-profit news organisation.

My son is very good-humoured and mature - he loves reading, food, and anything to do with sailing. As a double act, we're quiet and clean with regular meal and bedtime routines. We're well travelled (my son is half Chinese and was born in Beijing and I've spent half of my life overseas), eat organic (I'm vegetarian, but my son eats meat), listen to Radio 4 a bit too much (and Cerys on a Sunday), and limit screen time (we don't have a TV in the house, but we do like watching films, so a projector may have to be sourced).

Thank you for reading this far. Please do get in touch if you're interested in sharing with us!
