Description
My double room in Euston / King’s Cross will be available from May 16th as I am sadly heading back to Italy for work related reasons.
It is part of a two-bedroom house. You will be sharing with a very nice couple, Jack and Tara. Jack works during the day as an account manager, whereas Tara is finishing her Masters.
The room is really massive, about 16 sq. meters, by far the largest I have had in London. It comes furnished with an extremely comfortable double bed (it is less than a year old and it is excellent quality), a spacious wardrobe with a mirror, chest of drawers, an armchair and a three-seat leather sofa, so you will be able to accommodate your guests really easily. There is still a lot of place left for additional furniture. If you are so inclined, the landlord is really accommodating. There is also additional storage space throughout the house for suitcases, boxes, etc.
There is no living room, but I found this not to be a problem because the room is massive and the kitchen is a very good size and it comes with a big dinner table. It is a good place to relax after work or have a beer. Both Tara and Jack are very sociable and friendly people.
There is not much to be said about the location, it is simply amazing. The house is located in between Euston Station (6 min walk) and King’s Cross (7 min walk) and that means that you will have direct access to the Victoria line, Piccadilly line, Northern line, Hammersmith & City line, Circle line and even the Overground. Not to mention King’s Cross and Euston train stations and the Eurostar station.
Moreover, literally opposite the house there are both a convenience store and a medical center. Further down the road, there are also a few very nice restaurants and pubs. UCL, its gym, the British Library and many supermarkets (including M&S, Sainsbury, Tesco and Lidl) are all just within a short walk. The nightlife of Camden Town is also just round the corner. Two cinemas are within 15 min walk, the Odeon in Camden and the Renoir in Russel Square.
Safety was a major issue for me when I moved in the house, so you will be happy to know that all measures have been taken to make the room really secure. To access it there are now three locks: an electronic fob to enter the building, two locks on the entrance door and one, recently installed, on the bedroom door. The room can also be locked from inside for additional privacy. If you have a bike you can lock it either in front of the house door or in a dedicated area in the courtyard.
Coming to the money bits. The rent is £750 pcm, which is very reasonable for the size of the room and its location. The rent is paid at the end of the month.
So you will need to pay £ 296. 70 for the second half of May (16th – 28th) plus the bills for half month (£40) and then the first full month on May 28th. The property is managed through an agency, so there is the usual fee for the credit checks and for adding you to the contract £140 (including VAT). The deposit for the room is £870.
The contract expires on July 28th. The landlady is not keen on renewing the contract after that (Jack and Tara will be leaving). She said she'd prefer to find two people who know each other before moving in. You might be able to negotiate something with her, but this is not for sure.
Tara and Jack are looking for a sociable, easy going and considerate person. If you are interested in viewing the house or if you have any question, please get in touch by sending me a message with something about yourself. I expect the room to go very quickly. I will do my best to reply to everyone.
