HOMESHARE OPPORTUNITY
We are delighted to offer a lovely Homeshare opportunity for someone to live very comfortably and affordably in North London, close to shops, cafes and transport links, in return for providing around 10 hours a week of practical support around the home and companionship, and an overnight reassuring presence to an older lady.
In return for the low-cost accommodation (£240 per month), we are looking to match our well educated and independent homeowner with a bright and considerate sharer (preferably female and 25+) who is happy to provide some daily companionship and practical support, and a reassuring presence at night. No personal care is required or permitted.
Our homeowner is in her mid-80’s, a recent widow and an intelligent, sociable and active lady who is very close to her family. She has had a recent diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment which is in early stages however she is in good physical health, with a social event most days, meeting friends for a walk or coffee and, as a keen musician, playing in a string quartet and orchestra weekly. She was a teacher for many years until she retired, and she enjoys reading biographies, listening to radio 3 and history and travel programmes. She is a regular churchgoer.
Our homeowner is used to sharing her home as she has had lodgers staying with her over the years and is now looking to Homeshare with a bright, tidy and considerate female, who is either working or studying for a master’s or PhD.
Someone who is responsible and reliable, patient and helpful, who is interested in arts and culture and would enjoy sharing some time and interesting conversation with the homeowner. Our homeowner does enjoy her own company and space mostly but would enjoy some daily catching up and meaningful conversation, sharing a meal maybe a couple of times a week and going out for local walks together.
Practical support will include helping with some meal planning and shopping, IT or technology issues, gentle reminders about mealtimes and appointments, checking bus times, some light housework, watering plants and generally helping with any tasks that the homeowner finds difficult.
Our Homeowner is hard of hearing so clear spoken English is a priority.
* No pets please* *Non smoker only*
We are looking to match this Homeshare opportunity soon. If it is of interest, please get in touch with us preferably by email, telling us about yourself, your work/study situation, and interests, and particularly why you consider that you would be well suited to this opportunity. Thank you.
PLEASE don't forget to share your contact details so that we can contact you!
COST ** £240 per month**
This is a monthly facilitation fee for our matching and ongoing monitoring service. You do NOT pay any rent to the Homeowner. Bills are included, although you may be asked to make a very small contribution towards bills, and council tax if you are working.
We are a social enterprise facilitating Homeshare matches across London and surrounding areas. We match people who live alone and need some practical support and company, with mature adults wanting affordable accommodation who are happy to provide some companionship and practical support in return for a safe place to live.
