Description
A very large double room available in our beautiful family home from the 22nd August.
We are both teachers and are very chill people. We have had people living/ staying in our home almost the whole time since our 7-year-old daughter was a baby and it has always gone very well for both parties. One couple moved in initially for 3 months then ended up staying for nearly 2 years and only left because they were moving back to Australia. Our daughters are age 5 and 7. They are well behaved, friendly and very sweet (although I'm probably biased as to the latter!)
We are flexible as to the type of let, meaning it would be suitable for any of the following:
-Someone who travels from time to time (eg weekend breaks) and doesn't mind us using the room for our parents to stay when you are away (they live in different cities but our daughters are really close to their grandparents
-An undergraduate/ postgrad student or someone on an internship or placement. We would be happy to let the room on a term-time only basis
-Someone looking for a short term let, perhaps someone who is new to London or between homes
-A Monday-Friday let (or similar)
-Someone who could help with childcare in return for a discount on rent
The room is suitable for a couple, in which case the rent would be £1200 pcm inclusive of bills.
The room is South-facing and overlooks the garden. It is very quiet as it is at the back of the house- you will hear birdsong, not traffic! It is furnished with a king size double bed with Emma mattress and underbed storage, wardrobe and three chests of drawers. Your room and the shared spaces, (kitchen, sitting room, bathroom, toilet) will be cleaned on a weekly basis and all bills are included.
There is one bathroom and one downstairs toilet. Although there is only one bathroom, you would have priority use at your preferred times- this arrangement has always worked well with previous lodgers.
You would have full use of the rest of the house, including the sitting room, large kitchen and garden. We are sociable without being imposing, and are happy to have a chat/ shared meal/ sofa evening in front of the TV if you want a bit of family life and a home away from home. Alternatively if you just want a place to crash and do your own thing, we won't bother you.
Transport links to central London are excellent. Harringay overground station (with links to Old Street/ Moorgate and Finsbury Park for the Thameslink) is a brisk 5 mins walk away. Manor House tube is 15 mins walk or 5-10 mins by bus and Harringay Green Lanes is 7 mins walk. We have a shed for secure bike storage if you wish to cycle and there is on street residents' parking (prices start at £16/ 6 months permit depending on your vehicle emissions) with spaces always available within 20 metres of the house.
Harringay Green Lanes itself is a fantastic area to live in. The famous Stamp Brasserie and Brouhaha bar are both at the end of our street, with The Salisbury Pub (best in London according to Time Out) and Dusty Knuckle bakery both 5 mins walk away, not to mention the fact that we are the no 1 destination for Turkish restaurants in London. Aldi and Sainsburys both 10 mins walk. We are also within 15 minutes walk of four different parks.
If you are interested, please include a link to your ad ref in your message and/or tell us a bit about yourself/yourselves and why you would like the room. Looking forward to hearing from you!
