Description
THE ROOM: Gorgeous, bright, spacious and high ceilinged double bedroom.
THE FURNISHINGS: Originally rented totally unfurnished but current occupant is very keen to sell her furniture at a reduced rate. This includes the bed, mattress, desk and chair, cupboards and chest of drawers (all in good condition and some only bought a year ago).
THE FLATMATE: 33F, French-Malaysian, heavily invested in left-wing politics, working as a clinical psychologist in a youth homelessness charity. I love to dance (swing and salsa!), to read (largely fantasy with a strong preference for solid writing), to cook and eat good food, and go to the theatre / cinema. I'm chatty, social and am either super busy or under a blanket on the couch, hibernating. I also travel a fair amount, so you'll have the flat to yourself when that happens!
THE VIBE: This flat has become my home and I do love being able to hang out, catch up and share space as friends rather than cohabitating. If you're just looking for a place to sleep and aren't keen to build community, this ain't the flat for you! The current room occupant is a close friend, and is only moving out to move in with her partner - no issues experienced here and she agrees this flat is an absolute steal!
HOW ABOUT YOU? 28+ only (please don't message if you are under this cut-off, sorry!) We are welcoming to LGBTQ+ tenants (I'm queer). No pets or smokers (I'd love to get a dog but the space just isn't big enough sadly). Only able to accept PhD students with a stipend or professionals - you'll need to get your references checked by the lettings agency who are very thorough.
THE FLAT: Cute, newly furnished 2-bedroom flat, which means only sharing with one (1!) other person - very open to changing up the decoration in shared areas so it can be made ours!
Shared kitchen / living room area (open plan), with a sofa and TV unit, expandable dining table w/ chairs. Well equipped, newly refurbed kitchen (honourable mention goes to the excellent rice cooker and gas stove) with a brand new washing machine.
High pressure shower which can go nice and (very) hot or nice and cold, in a decent size bathroom with storage. Rack / shelves for shoes and coats in the hallway.
Large double-glazed windows in every room which keep the high street noise out but let all of the light in. Walls are freshly painted, heating works very well, and the agency we rent through is incredibly responsive and sort any issues out very quickly. Neighbours are friendly and not noisy.
THE LOCATION: Located on a high street only 2 mins walk from Finsbury Park (Victoria / Piccadilly tube and National Rail / Thameslink - so about 10 minutes into Euston / King's Cross, 12 minutes to Oxford Circus). There are loads of buses that take you pretty much anywhere you might want to go in London, and you can get the overground from Highbury and Islington to anywhere further East, just one stop down from Finsbury Park.
We live just across the way from Finsbury Park, 15 minutes walk from Clissold Park and from The Castle climbing centre / wild swimming reservoir. Plenty of delicious food and cute pubs abound. There's a big Lidl just across the road (massive savings) and plenty of other shops around. Finsbury Picturehouse is 5 mins away, if you like the cinema, and there are several nearby gyms.
THE BILLS: Currently stand at 175£ pm each for all bills (water, gas & electric, wifi, council tax band C and contents insurance) - might go up, might go down, who knows in this economy. I'll be handling these and would prefer a direct debit arrangement to avoid any late payments.
WHEN CAN I MOVE IN? Available from the 2nd of May (but could wait til the 10th of May if absolutely necessary).
VIEWINGS: Keen to sort viewings out w/c 20th April - weekday evenings preferred.
