Description

One of our housemates is following his love to Australia, so a room has become available in our beautiful four bedroom home in Haggerston, from 1st Jan 2025. We’re sad to see him leave, but excited to welcome a friendly new face who is keen to build a warm, social and homely dynamic.

The house itself is really great. Spread over four floors, it has four double bedrooms and three bathrooms (two en-suites). There is a really big living room, and a good sized south facing kitchen which leads on a private terrace and then onto a large gated communal square. We also have a private south facing roof terrace on the top floor ☀️
It’s a relatively new build, is in great condition, and the landlords are responsive to fixing problems. Haggerston to be a really friendly liveable community. We are 30 seconds walk from the canal, within a 10 min walk from Broadway Market, and only slightly further on to London Fields, Victoria Park, and Angel. We're also close to Dalston and Shoreditch, with all the bigger shops you might need and loads of lovely local shops and proper food, and culture.

We have worked to make the house really homely, but we’d love someone to bringing in their own items and ideas, and help build the home.

Importantly, the room is unfurnished, so you will need to kit it out with beds, storage, etc. There is a double built in wardrobe just outside the room which is yours, and the house itself has lots of communal storage.

A little bit about us:

Lare (he/him). I’m a 29 year old, British-Nigerian writer and creative producer working in film, tv and theatre. I currently work 10-6 in Holborn for a scripted production company, but WFH a couple days a week, mostly on my own projects. I have lived in this house for almost 2 years, and east for a few more and really love it. I spend lots of my time going to and talking about films and plays. I love debating tv/ movies and books, keeping fit and cooking.

Des (she/her). I’m a 28 year old British-Nigerian journalist, born and raised in east London. I currently work from home a fair bit, though actively trying to get into the office more. I love watching movies, reading books as well as buying books I'll never get around to reading, hosting friends and spending too much money on good food.

Ailidh (she/her). I’m a 32 year old Scottish emergency doctor, working in East London. When I’m not in the hospital I love food and wine, running and cycling. Also a big reader which I’m trying to align with Des to discuss our deepest thoughts on books.

We’re really keen to meet people from all backgrounds, and a mix of genders, POC & LGBTQIA+. It’d be great too meet other creatives , but if that’s not you, still feel free to message ☺️

We are looking for people who care about making their house a positive environment for all living here. We’re looking for a housemate to both spend time with and become friends with, but also respect each other’s lives and space when needed - sociable, fun, chilled and clean. We love hosting dinners and welcoming people into our space, and cooking for pals etc - we’ve hosted birthday parties, game nights, brunches, viewing parties, but i wouldn’t describe it as a huge party house.

**IMPORTANT** Unfortunately due to the Landlord referencing students we can’t take students/ masters, and people will need to be able to demonstrate affordability for the room, whether in full term employment, or consistent freelance work (completely out of my control).

We are looking to wrap things up pretty ASAP as referencing can be a bit long, so will be meeting people on a rolling basis. Please bear with us if responses take a while. We know how tough it is out there at the minute and want to consider people properly but will aim to get back to everyone at some point!

If you have any questions feel free to reach out. And if reaching out to view a room and potentially join the house, then please say a little about yourself - (age, job and what you’re looking for in a house etc.) - sorry to the introverts, but it’s helpful 🙏🏾 And also how long you’re hoping to stay - Ideally want people to stay for at least a year.

About the room:
The room is a second floor double room with the rent at £955pm.

It’s a large double room with floor to ceiling windows, that’s face into the large internal courtyard. This room shares a 3 piece-bathroom with one other person, is south facing and super bright. There is also a built in double wardrobe just outside the room.

Bills come to around £100-130 a month which includes a bi-weekly cleaner.

The room is available from January 1st. The tenancy itself renews on the 1st May 2025 and will likely go up slightly (<10%) so looking for people who are looking to stay long term.

A deposit of £1039 will need to be paid to the outgoing tenant once references are cleared.

Excited to hear from all of you 🥰
