Description
Hey! We're Lena, Eva, and Gaston, living in Harringay Ladder just off Green Lanes looking for someone to join our home until the end of the year :)
As our flatmate Todd is sadly leaving us, we're looking for somebody to join our lovely home from october onwards.
The people:
We’re a chill household with a great vibe that we’re keen to preserve. Lena is a PhD student in feminist economics, but splits her time across the library and the climbing gym. She also turns to an occasional gardener in the spring, yet had to count some losses in the recent weeks (do not ask her about her sunflowers). Eva is an engineer by day and soon-to-be pro climber by night. You can usually find her cooking the most amazing meals (she wins every informal family dinner ranking) or working on some remarkable knitting projects. Gaston is a PhD student Gaston is a PhD student researching the influence of financial markets on policy in the Global South. He can be found working away nights in our shared workspace or enjoying the most cozy brunches either in the kitchen or in our garden, depending the season.
For us this house really is a home, and we are excited to find a new member to our house family :) We keep up with each other’s lives (usually via chats in the kitchen while cooking), have a family style dinner on sundays and occasionally do stuff together outside the house (you’re welcome to join us for our cold lido swims, theatre visits or climbing!). We also give each other the space to be with ourselves and retrieve in our rooms from time to time. We keep our house clean and see having a clean house and caring for each other as flatmates as a shared responsibility. We are keen to find somebody who has the same mindset.
We are also thinking of adopting a cat as an additional new flatmate! So it would be great if this is something you would be keen for as well :)
The place:
It's a lovely bright double room with two huge windows that get the afternoon sun. The room comes with: a double bed; a desk and chair; loads of storage including a wardrobe with drawers, space for hanging clothes, and also shoes; lots of shelving; and plenty of extra storage space under the bed. Another plus is that we have quite helpful landladies who take care of things very quickly when something is wrong or broken.
Otherwise the house is a spacious, bright late-Victorian terrace, set on a quiet residential road just a 2-minute walk from Green Lanes and all its amazing grocers and Turkish restaurants. We're also just a short walk to Finsbury Park and Turnpike Lane, with Stoke Newington, Muswell Hill, Crouch End, and Wood Green all in walking distance as well. It's easy to cycle into the centre (30 mins), and we all cycle most days.
The house has a large kitchen/diner, a separate lounge, bathroom with power shower and bath, separate toilet with sink, and a lovely garden with plenty of space for bike storage.
The technical bits:
Rent - £796 (might increase a little with the new contract)
Bills (water, electricity, gas, internet) -
approx. £60
Council tax - £90
We are planning to have viewings on the 9th and 10th of August, please let know your available.
Two of us are Veggie and one is in love with cheese - we're welcoming of everybody.
