Description
About the flat -
I am subletting a furnished, double bedroom in a lovely spacious flat in Herne Hill, available from the 14th December, with some flexibility around dates. The room has plenty of natural light and there is enough space to put a small desk if you work from home. It comes with a double bed, good size wardrobe and Ikea cube storage. The cubes can be taken out if you don't want them. The room is approx 6"9 x 12"2.
There is also additional storage space in the flat, we have a great loft!
It's a 7 minute walk to Tulse Hill station with good links to central London (Blackfriars and Farringdon) and a 20 minute walk to Herne Hill station, with regular trains to Victoria. Brixton station (Victoria line) is a 35 minute walk away or 15 minutes on the bus. Bus links - 68, 196, 322, 468, 2,
Less than a 10 minute walk to Brockwell Park which is gorgeous and has a Lido and gym.
Lots of lovely restaurants, cafes and bars around the area and Herne Hill market every Sunday.
The rent includes all bills including Sky TV and Virgin broadband, council tax (Band B), TV Licence, gas and electric and water.
About me -
I’m Lauren (she/her), 41, and have been living here for three and a half years. I'm from Newcastle so have that friendly northerner vibe but am also a bit of an introvert, so I can be chatty and social, and am equally as happy to have some quiet downtime. Tootsie is my 16 year old fluffy cat and she likes to eat and sleep, if you're happy to feed her when I'm away that would be a massive bonus!
I'm coeliac, just in case you're also gluten free. If not that's cool, we just need to be careful about using separate pans and aware of cross contamination in the kitchen.
I work as a therapist in a school Monday-Thursday and work from home on Fridays. My work can be quite full on so I really value home being a comfortable safe haven and would love to live with someone who is looking for a similar living environment.
Outside of work, I like to do a bit of yoga, go to the Picturehouse cinema up the road in West Norwood, and am generally a pretty laid back person. I'd say I'm a bit of a homebody so I'm usually around at the weekends but also like to get out to gigs, festivals, and exhibitions etc. I'm into films, music and reading, all the usual kind of hobbies.
I go up to Newcastle a few times a year too so might be away for the odd long weekend and then a week or so in the summer and for Christmas.
It's a cosy, homely flat and I like to keep it clean and tidy. It's not a party flat, but the kitchen is big enough to have people over for dinner and not be under each others feet.
I'm quite happy to hang out and do stuff together but also respectful of your privacy and personal space if you're not looking for a social space.
The most important thing to me is that the flat is a comfortable and safe space for both of us.
My lease with the landlord is renewed every six months and he is happy for me to sublet, so your contract would be with me. This can be six monthly or a rolling month to month contract. I'm open to short-term and part-time lets so if you're looking for something Monday-Friday this is a possibility and we can discuss the rent amount.
Let me know if you have any questions or would like to arrange a viewing. I am hoping to have people over for viewings on the weekend of the 16th November. Happy to do online viewings. Thanks for reading!
