Hello everyone!
We have two rooms available in our flat in Herne Hill.
Room 1 - Large Double SUBLET ONLY - Green bedroom in photos
We have a sublet available from 1st March to 31st August. It is a large furnished double. This is fixed to cover a sabbatical so it won't be possible to extend. We may ask for some rent in advance to secure the sublet and ensure payment for the period.
Room 2- Small Double - Rainbow Bedroom in photos
A small but perfectly formed double room. The room has shelves, small double bed, chest of drawers and built in wardrobe space. The flat is split over two floors and the room is on the second floor.
About the Flat
There is a spacious kitchen with a table, lots of storage and a fridge freezer. The living room is large and very light with two sofas. We have a spare room we have turned into an office, plus we use it to dry the washing.
About Us
We are two women in our mid-late 30s with backgrounds in charity work, journalism human rights and social justice and we’d ideally like to find a flatmate who shares our values. We have varied interests ranging from music, reading, film, art, gardening, food, travel, cycling, exercise, yoga, meditation and reading.
The flat is our sanctuary and a place we can recharge. Whilst we are sociable, it's not a party flat! We have friends round from time to time but we always check with each other and are respectful of each other’s space.
We both work full time, a mixture of days at home and days in the office. While we're lucky enough to have an office in the flat, we do have to share the space so it would be helpful for you to let us know what your working situation is when you get in touch.
If you don't know the area, Herne hill is in zone 3, close to Brixton. It's got independent shops, pubs, restaurants, a Sunday Market as well as a Sainsbury's and Tesco local. We don't have a garden but Brockwell park is less than 5 minutes walk away so it's easy to get a green fix. There are views of London from the top of the park. Herne Hill has a train station with good transport links to central London (Thameslink to Victoria, Blackfriars, Farringdon and KX), lots of buses and Brixton tube station is only 20 mins walk away.
Practicalities
Room 1 - Sublet 1st March - 31st August 2025 (available to move in from 23rd Feb)
Room 2 - Available from 19th January 2025 but flexible on move in, ideally we would like someone by 1st Feb.
Rent is £400 p/mth.
Bills are extra - Council Tax, water, gas & Elec, broadband, TV licence, fortnightly cleaner and shared household items, averaging around £200 p/month
It is a real bargain, especially considering how expensive renting in London often is! We realise how lucky we are and for this reason, we want someone who will also treat it like a home, respect the space and relaxed atmosphere. Most importantly, we are looking for a housemate of a similar age (over 30s only) who wants to make the flat their home for the foreseeable future.
