Description

THE FLAT

A 3-bed spacious flat with original hard wood floors overlooking a communal garden. The flat is on the first floor, and the building has a small lift if needed. We have a small balcony with a great skyline view, and we’re treated to some amazing sunsets in this spot.

The flat comprises of a spacious hallway with some (limited) communal storage and bedrooms either side. The bathroom has a bath, an overhead shower, and probably one too many candles!

We have a large open plan kitchen and living room which we like to keep the communal space clean and tidy and request this of you too. The large windows throughout the kitchen and living room look out onto the green space in the middle of the court, and the flat gets lots of natural sunlight. The kitchen is fully stocked with cutlery/utensils/ crockery etc. and we have a washing machine (and coffee machine), and lots of fridge/freezer space.

Our flat sits in the bottom right corner of Dorchester Court, away from the noise of the main road, but still well connected with Buses 468/68 passing the Court and Herne Hill/ Dulwich/ Camberwell/ Brixton nearby. Dorchester Court is an Art Deco block with an amazing community and friendly vibe. There is a summer party each year and other smaller ad hoc gatherings.

We’re a pretty relaxed flat, but while we don’t really have any “house rules” we don’t allow any drugs in the flat.

BILLS

Heating is included in our rent, which makes winter comfortable and cosy.
For the other bills, we are currently paying about £100/month for electric, water, council tax, tv licence, and broadband. We have a cleaner who tidies the communal area every fortnight, and we take it in turns to pay her (£30 a time).
Please note that if you are a student you will still need to contribute to the council tax, as we are a mixed household and still liable to pay the full amount.

THE ROOM

The room is a double room around 12 meters-squared (3x4m) which overlooks the balcony. The room is located next to the kitchen/living room, opposite the bathroom.
The room is available from 1st September, there may be a chance it can be moved into a week or so sooner.

ABOUT US

We’re both northern girls, and proud – though we’ll forgive you if you’re not. We’ve made some great memories this year going to Mighty Hoopla, gigs, playing boardgames, having cocktail evenings, and having chilled evenings sharing our favourite series with each other; we’re excited to welcome a new flatmate to share these experiences with!

Anna – I’m currently studying for my masters in Documentary Photography at UAL while building a photography business. I enjoy cycling and spending time outdoors. Equally I love Netflix and curling up on the sofa! I enjoy the concept of knitting and have been knitting the same scarf for two consecutive Christmases so far (lol). My main way to unwind is by experimenting with food, almost always vegan. Oh and I would also be up for finding another charity shop buddy!

Robyn – I’m currently working full time as a civil servant finishing up my legal training. I fully believe in making the most out of living in London, so in my free time I try to see as many shows/exhibits/etc. as my schedule/ bank account lets me. I love going to Brockwell Lido and pretending I’m on holiday. I’m lucky to have friends and family spread across the country, so I tend to be away about one weekend a month.

Motley – Motley is a black cat who was rescued after he was living on a scrap of wasteland up north. We think he’s about 12, but who knows! He is very friendly and loves being near his human flatmates. He can most often be found sitting on the balcony wall surveying his kingdom.

ABOUT YOU

We’re looking for a good communicator who has previously lived in a co-living situation. Unfortunately, we can’t consider any more pets. As mentioned, we request that you’re clean and tidy in the communal areas. We would love to have a sociable housemate who fits into our calm, chilled space and can get on board with the odd cocktail and bake off evenings; we also love space and downtime, so someone who respects that too would be ideal.

Ideally, you will be veggie/vegan, though this isn’t a dealbreaker (Robyn is a flexitarian). We’re LGBT+ friendly and left leaning, so no tories or terfs, thanks! We both have a pretty flexible schedule and are ideally looking for someone who doesn’t work from home full-time.

NEXT STEPS

If you’re interested in the room, and/or if you have any questions, please message us telling us a bit about yourself and what days/ times you’d be free for a viewing in the next couple of weeks. We’re happy to do initial viewings virtually if needed.

*Please be aware that the landlord will be doing referencing for the flat – you will be required to put down a deposit and may need a guarantor depending on their checks. This isn’t something in our control. Thanks!*
