Description
NOTE: We are taking no more message requests about the room unfortunately!
We have had a lot of messages about the room and will be doing viewings this week- I am doing my best to reply to everyone asap.
Hello all, me (Cat, 26) and Maddy (26) are looking for a new housemate(s) to join our spacious Highbury home. Maddy’s beautiful cat Cleo is also part of the household! We both work in education, like trips to nature, the pub, sports etc, your usual mid-20s pursuits.
We are both queer and so it is important to us to live with someone who is also LGBT+ or an ally!
We are looking for someone who wants to build a community feeling in a home, rather than just somewhere to lay your head. While we have separate lives and different pals, we like to hang out, cook, watch movies together and sometimes have people over. We are both keen to keep the house tidy and keep a rota of household responsibilities. We currently do a big tesco shop once/twice a month for house and food essentials and have a semi-communal food system (for things like tins, bread, milk and loo roll), as well as buying our individual food- we find it makes things a lot cheaper. We are also both mostly vegetarian, so this is preferable but not essential.
The house is incredible in that the whole of the downstairs is shared living space. It is definitely big enough for 3/4 people to live comfortably. It has:
- a big living room with tall ceilings with a working
- space and bike storage
- a huge pantry and decent sized kitchen
- 1 bathroom with a deep bath
- Front and back garden
- A basement for storage space
The area:
We are on Gillespie Road, 5 minute walk to Arsenal tube station, 8 minutes from Finsbury park and round the corner from buses taking you to Highbury and Islington. It is super easy to cycle into London too- around 30 minutes to Soho. We are also a short walk from Clissold park and Highbury Fields! The area is beautiful, sociable but calm.
Your room:
You would be at the front of the house (the road is super quiet now, thanks to the low emissions neighbourhoods scheme)
It is the whole width of the house- the photos don’t really do the size of it justice! It has two huge windows and enough space for a huge desk. The room is unfurnished but there is a chance that the previous tenant could sell some items such as the bed. Otherwise, we have pretty much furnished the whole house with freecycle!
Cost (bills come to around 100 a month):
£825- single person
£925- couple
We are looking for someone to move in on 10th July (when we pay rent for July). Preferably someone within the 24-32 age range, whatever gender.
We are looking to do IRL house viewings on weekday evenings over the next couple of weeks but can do zoom too.
I will get back to everyone who reaches out- I know the market is hellish out there atm!
