Are you looking for a large double room with space for a desk, bookshelves, or any other pieces of furniture that might strike your fancy? With private outside space? And an array of flatmates who strike that notorious balance between ‘sociable and outgoing’ and ‘tidy, clean and respectful of other people’s space’?

Well you’re in luck. I’m sadly saying farewell to London's best flat-share to move in with family who have just ventured north from New Zealand, but that means there's a slot available for you if you move quickly!

Let’s start with the main character, the flat:

It’s a four-bed flat a few floors up in a block just off Holloway Road, fewer than 10 minutes walk from Holloway Station and surrounded by supermarkets.

It’s been a flat-share for over 10 years now, so it’s had a lot of love poured into it over the years, and the décor, plant life and general atmosphere really reflect this. It’s got a big-ass living room, a nice cosy kitchen, and even the sizeable separate reception room has its own vibe thanks to the many plants thriving due to the painstaking work of housemate Beth (a former flatmate's once mum walked into the entrance and remarked, 'This isn't a bad sized lounge' - little did she know!). Just as importantly, there’s access to a shared roof terrace with our lovely neighbour Ben, and above that a huge roof terrace just for us (which admittedly doesn't quite get as much use in winter as it does in summer, but the views are spectacular year-round). Yes that's right, the flat literally has two roof terraces.

We deal with the landlord directly and communication has always been super easy.

Next up, the room:

The room has gone through a variety of colours over the past few years but was recently painted an elegant pearl luster, however you’re welcome to repaint if you're looking for a splash of colour (feature walls are coming back, so they say).
There’s a double bed, small bedside table, and large wardrobe included with the room, plus ample space for pretty much any furniture that catches your fancy (I've currently got it set up with a large desk, two Kallax shelving units from Ikea [2x4 and 3x4], a small TV cabinet and TV, and a bean bag). The current photos show what the room looks like with a more minimalist approach!

Attached to the bedroom is a nicely sized ensuite with shower and basin.

And of course, the people. You’ll be joining three truly excellent flatmates:

- Lorenzo, an Italian filmmaker, writer and recruiter

- Beth, our resident plant whisperer (she swears she has no idea what she's doing but the results speak for themselves) from Chicago who works as an administrative assistant

- Victoria, a People and Culture manager who shifted over to the UK late last year from Australia

We have a generally fun, cheery vibe. There are plenty of keen chefs willing to make group meals, and we hang out a fair bit when people are free – pub quizzes, barbecues on the terrace and the occasional excellent party.

If this all sounds like your bag, please message with a bit about yourself – hobbies, lifestyle, job, anything you feel gets across what it’s like to live with you! Only exclusion is no undergraduate students, apart from that we welcome all comers. While I'm currently occupying the room on my own, it's comfortably spacious enough for a couple (and has more often than not been rented by couples in the past).

Then we’ll arrange some initial viewings so you can see the view from the terrace. We like to be thorough with our search and we're not in any outrageous rush, however the room could be made available as soon as November but needs to be filled by early December at the latest.
