Homerton Station
Tube map
0-5 minutes walk away
Description
Available June 14
This is a spacious room with a large window, part of a 5 bed apartment. 4 rooms are occupied and one is used as a laundry room, which is very helpful. There is one bathroom and a separate WC.
The bedroom itself has a built-in wardrobe, plenty of space for other storage units and things like a dressing table and workspace, if you want those things.
The property is set just off Well Street, which is a lively central street for Homerton. You can get your groceries and many of the things you need for daily living within a 5 minute walk. But it is quiet in the house and the neighbourhood generally. Homerton Station is less than 10 mins away, even if you walk slowly, and is surprisingly well-connected thanks to the proximity to Stratford & the Elizabeth Line in one direction and Highbury & Islington in the other. You can get central or around the city easily.
The place managed by a faceless letting agent who are actually quite responsive when it comes to getting things fixed or replaced. The shared areas are far from state-of-the-art but bills, including broadband are included in the rent (up to a cap on electricity and gas.) A cleaner comes and cleans shared areas once every week or two.
ITs the kind of place where you rarely see other housemates, there is no communal area so we do not really hang out, but everyone is friendly and respectful to each other. It is a relaxed environment where you do your own thing, work whatever hours, play your music loud, come and go any time you please without causing anyone any trouble.
The "licensee agreement" you sign when you move in here is ridiculously strict: it forbids putting up posters and requires that you get written permission from the landlord if you want to have an overnight guest, for example.... but none of us know who the landlord is and nobody obeys these silly rules. As you can see, I have pictures up; my partner has been living in this room with me for the entire time I have lived here and nobody checks or cares. (If you want to live here as a couple, just apply as one person.)
It is perfect for the kind of person who does not care about artisinal kitchen-ware and designer bathroom taps, and isn't a neurotic housekeeper but just wants a simple place to live in a thriving neighbourhood, at a great spot in East London, where nobody at home is all up-in-your-business.
If you would like to view, get in touch and I will show you round. The way the contract will work is that you will take over a rental that ends this September, as I did from the previous occupant when I moved in 6 months ago. If you want to leave before then, you just need to replace yourself, as I am hoping to do now! Or you can renew then to stay longer.
Any questions, get in touch!
