Description
I rent from a private landlord & my current flatmate is leaving in mid-late November (provisionally 22 Nov, with some flexibility). I’ve lived in this two bedroom flat with my 14yr old cat for around 18 months, and I’m looking for a friendly person to share this lovely space with.
🛏️ The Flat 🏘️ : The room measures approx 2m60x3m60 with a built-in closet and river view, and can come furnished (double bed and 2 chests of drawers), unfurnished, or any level in between that suits you. The rest of the place is furnished but you are welcome to add your own stamp to it too, and if you have furniture you want to bring, we can make that work!
The flat is on the 4th floor of a 1930s apartment block, with no lift (sorry!) so unfortunately it’s not a particularly accessible flat if you or your loved ones require easy / step-free access. The rest of the flat is a bathroom, separate loo, my bedroom, and a good sized living room with views over the Thames - you can see the London Eye, which makes for a nice new years eve. The kitchen is not huge, nor is the fridge, so ideally I’d be looking for someone who’s happy to share resources when it comes to food, but happy to negotiate this in whatever way is most comfortable to you!
The contract is yearly from May and all handled directly between myself and the landlord, who is a good one. Rent is 1650pcm split evenly (825pp), and bills come to around 150pcm (once averaged out over the year) for council tax (band C), gas & electric, water, and internet. There’s a TV license for the property and a Chromecast for connecting to the TV.
🚂 Transport & Local Area 🏙️ : We’re about 15-20mins walk to Crossharbour (DLR) and Canary Wharf (Jubilee), roughly equidistant between Canary Wharf and Masthouse Terrace on the Uber Boats, or 1mins walk from a bus stop. No permanent parking spot, but visitor parking permits are available.
The closest shops are Asda (15mins walk), Waitrose (20mins), and Lidl (30mins), but there’s approximately one billion Tesco Expresses on the Isle of Dogs too, and a local corner shop 1min away for emergency milk or eggs. There’s a shopping centre in Canary Wharf which is modern if a bit on the bougie side, and the best local restaurants / takeouts are 3KO Bros (Korean) and Mala (Indian).
The flat is on the Thames Path so the walk up the island to the tube station is a nice one, or you can walk down the island to get to Greenwich in less than 30mins for a sunny day or evening. There’s also Mudchute Farm (London’s largest farm!) for green space, and lots of open water - the Sailing Centre is across the street, and there’s more docks than you can shake a stick at. There's lots of runners on the Isle, for good reason.
😎 Flatmates 🐱 : I’m Leo, 28yo, they/them. I’ve just started a part-time MA in Linguistics at Queen Mary, and work part-time in a coffee shop alongside this; before September, I was working in Higher Education admin full-time for 3 years. I enjoy cooking and baking, charity shop bargains, I’m a big film watcher, I organise and attend life drawing classes; I love art and theatre and getting into niche things for 6 months, then moving on inexplicably. I’m pretty chilled and a bit of a homebody, and it would be great to share with someone who’s happy to share dinner and/or watch a movie together if we’re both home in the evening and fancy it. It’s not a huge flat, but I do have friends over to stay sometimes and I’d want you to feel comfortable to do the same!
Asherah (14yo, she/her) is an inherited cat who is a bit of an idiot and loves a warm lap. As she’s a little indoor cat, she gets the run of the house, so you’d have to be comfortable with her coming into your room during the day. She’s a highly loveable flatmate!
Please feel free to get in touch let me know if you have any questions!
