Description
About the flat:
**Available from 5th May, looking for someone to move in on or soon after this date.**
One bedroom available in a 2-bed, 1-bath flat in the heart of Canary Wharf / Isle of Dogs.
The flat has a spacious shared living room/kitchen, a large bathroom with a combined bathtub and shower, and a river-facing balcony with amazing views of the City of London from the 15th floor. There is also a large kitchen-side window with a great view of the Canary Wharf skyline.
The shared areas include the living room, kitchen, bathroom, balcony, and hallway. The flat is fully furnished, with a well-equipped kitchen. The bedroom is spacious and furnished with the essentials: bed and mattress, drawers, a wardrobe, bedside table, and a bookshelf.
The flat is ideal for a professional working in Canary Wharf, the City, or Central London. Transport links are excellent:
- Buses: 1 min walk
- Jubilee Line: approx. 5 mins walk
- Elizabeth Line: approx. 10 mins walk
- DLR: approx. 5 mins to Heron Quays or South Quay
The flat is also close to Canary Wharf shopping centre, gyms including Virgin Active, Third Space, Nuffield, and PureGym, bars and restaurants, and plenty of grocery options, including Waitrose, Asda, Tesco, M&S, and Co-op.
About you:
Ideally looking for someone who is:
- A working professional, ideally in a demanding office-based role such as finance, consulting, law, or a similar professional services / corporate role
- Usually working from the office most / all of the week, or otherwise not primarily WFH
- A solo tenant - occasional overnight guests are of course fine, but this is not suitable for a couple moving in
- Ideally aged in your 20s to mid-30s, as this is likely to be the best lifestyle fit
- Clean, tidy, and respectful of shared spaces and noise levels
- Sociable and friendly, easy to get on with, and respectful of privacy, personal time, and space
- Shared interests would be a welcome plus
About your new flatmate:
A 28-year-old professional (male). I am a former molecular biologist turned investment banker, originally Persian, raised in London, and educated in Cambridge.
I am friendly, social, clean, relatively quiet, and easy to live with. My hobbies and interests include music, guitar, men’s fashion, gym, swimming, scuba diving, red wine, movies & shows, gaming (PS5), reading, travelling, dinners & drinks with friends, politics, museums, and watches.
I work quite a lot. Usually, I work 3 days a week from the office and 2 days from home for around 2-3 weeks, with the remaining 1-2 weeks each month usually fully from home due to team structure. There is a small office nook attached to my bedroom, separated only by a glass window, which I use exclusively.
A few things to note:
This is not a party flat. Occasional friends’ dinners or small gatherings are fine, but I am looking for someone who wants a calm, clean, and respectful home. The household is no-smoking and no-drugs, though alcohol is completely fine.
Bills will be split between us. There is no gas bill as the flat is fully electric. Estimated monthly total costs to be split are:
- Electricity: approx. £70-100 depending on time of year and usage
- Water: approx. £50
- Council tax: Band B, approx. £120
- Hot water: approx. £15
- Hyperoptic internet: £63, though I will look for a better deal when the current contract ends soon
I am also considering a regular fortnightly cleaner for the shared spaces, mainly for hoovering, mopping, and dusting. This would likely cost around £18-£20 per hour for a 1-2 hour clean, to be split between us. Happy to discuss other options or if you’d like to extend it to include bedrooms too.
There are currently two small cats in the flat, but they are moving out with the previous tenant. I may look to get one cat myself over the next few months, so this is something to be mindful of. I would make sure this does not affect the cleanliness of the flat, e. g. by using an electronic litter tray.
For transparency, my girlfriend is doing her PhD abroad and visits every 1-2 months, usually for anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks. While here, she may use my home office when I am working away, or the living room desk if I am working from home. As I work long hours, it may often feel like only one of us is around. We are quiet, respectful, and tend to spend our free time outside the flat on weekends when she is here.
Feel free to drop me a message to arrange a viewing or ask any questions. I am flexible for viewings over the next few days, but will be away from 28 April to 1 May, and available again afterwards.
Looking forward to speaking soon.
