Description
My partner John and I are looking for a flatmate to join our pad in Limehouse Basin, as our current flatmate has just bought her own place.
Key info:
- THIS IS NOT A SUBLET - you would be replacing our old flatmate on the lease so you will sign a contract with the Landlord's agency, which protects you and your deposit.
The Flat:
In terms of the flat itself, as you can see from the pictures it's a really lovely place with huge floor to ceiling windows in the living space, and has a modern, bright feel.
The room:
Nice sized room, loads of storage, and as it's on the back of the property it's much cooler at night during the summer - which surprisingly was important this year. The only caveat to note is our flat is by the DLR, so you can hear the train go by regularly when windows are opened - it has never kept me awake, honestly I don't even notice it, but if you're a very very light sleeper or this would bother you it's worth thinking about. You also have that bathroom to yourself, we have an ensuite.
Transport:
Limehouse DLR is 5 minutes walk from the flat, and 2 min walk from a bus stop which has buses into central London. Canary Wharf is 15-20 minutes walk from the flat, and I sometimes treat myself taking the Uber boat into work from the pier there!
The area:
The area around us is residential and quiet, though we have a couple of great pubs (The Grapes owned by Ian Mckellan is a fave if you're a LOTR fan), and there's a Tesco's 5 min walk from the flat, as well as a rare Lidl only 10 mins walk from here. The Thames path is gorgeous and I do walk up the river a lot, or you can walk up the canals and Victoria Park is a straight shot of a 30 minute walk up the water. There's also all the delights of Canary Wharf only mins away, and West India Quay, both close by.
Bills:
At the moment bills come to £160 each (though this will go up I imagine in October with the energy prices rising). This includes: water, energy, internet, tv license, council tax, and a cleaner who comes every two weeks. Our council tax band is F, with Tower Hamlets council.
Us:
In terms of us, we are a couple I'm British/Bahraini and John is Irish, we've both lived in London for about 10 years and we've been together 5 years. I WFH for a charity three days a week, but John is out in the day as he manages operations for a bar group in Shoreditch. John is also a comedian and I'm a screenwriter, so we are super busy and John is often out doing gigs in the evening!
The vibe of the flat is super chill, this is where we relax in between busy lives. We cook often (big foodies) and enjoy a few cocktails on the balcony when the weather is good! We do have friends over for takeaways and chat sometimes, and every so often a big dinner party but all in all it's very much the mid-late 30s energy flat - god I feel old just typing that.
John and our previous flatmate are both at the Fringe this month so it's just me in at the moment so I'm limited for time for viewings, but happy to send a video initially and answer any questions online.
