Description
Mon-Fri available at reduced rent.
COUPLES: something I haven’t done before but… as I say in the ad, there’s another room. It’s equally lovely (can’t remember exactly but off the top of my head it’s 2.6Mx4?4.5?) that could be your own living room. Could be weird- I don’t know. Like I said, I’ve never done this before. If you’re interested, get in touch.
NO WFH (or only eensy weensy WFH), and short lets are welcome! I really like having the flat to myself during the day so sadly the WFH is non-negotiable.
Pets: My 2 dogs passed recently so I’m now fostering (see photos of the lovely Jasmine, who will be with us for at least a few months). What does this mean for you? Nothing really. I’m just looking for someone with empathy & common sense. A “dog liker” would be preferable to a “fur baby smoosher”, as while Jas is well established, some dogs need space and there may be rules to follow (mostly about ignoring them). The flat is L shaped with your room and a spare down one side so you have plenty of privacy and Jasmine is on “my” end. There’s a tall baby gate restricting access to “your” end (which isn’t needed, but it’s there). My primary concern is making sure they are/ getting them to where they are adoptable. Feel free to ask any questions.
Your room is lovely & light filled. Large (3.5mx3.5), south-facing, with a great Warren Evans bed & mattress. Bed linen & towels included as optional.
All bills AND cleaning supplies AND toilet paper included in the price as I buy all that refillable, plastic-free stuff so you just need your own laundry detergent, and pitch in for dishwashing soap.
There’s space in the garage for your luggage & things, and the WiFi is decent at 150mbps.
The kitchen is a great size, sunny & with a good collection of kitchen gadgets. Everything is there for you to use, including a Nespresso, nutri-bullet, Instant Pot & a Ninja air-fryer/ grill thing.
Bathroom is simple & clean with a very good hot shower & the living room is cosy. I’ll be honest- I would right now describe the decor of the flat as “tired” but that doesn’t affect your room, which hasn’t been used for over a year and is the nicest room in the house, imo. The terrace is amazing and south facing, with a gazebo giving an extra room shaded from the sun and protected from the rain, along with a bbq & seating for 6 under an umbrella (not shown)
The area is great, there’s a city farm 5 minutes away with a weekly small farmers market or to pet some goats, lots of parks & beautiful squares, an old church (“the bells of Stepney” from the “oranges & lemons” nursery rhyme) & of course plenty of pubs. It’s quiet & safe (I used to regularly walk my dogs at 3am in Stepney Green) and all the action of the East End is only a stone’s throw or quick nip on a bike away (plenty of them right outside, too). There’s a brilliant corner shop next door that sells an incredible range of foods or there’s 3 superstores (Sainsbury’s, Asda & Lidl) all within easy reach.
So that's it, and like everyone, I'm looking for someone who gels. I’m friendly but not looking for a bezzie, although I’m still friends with many past lodgers. I’m cishet, but very LGBTQIA positive. We be we, she be they, it’s all groovy. Not hugely sociable but always up for a laugh or a natter if you are. You should be relaxed and open-minded. Messy- within reason- is fine, dirty is not fine. If you need organised and regimented, if you read the Sun for it's opinion pieces or are an avid churchgoer.. this is probably not for you.
8 minute walk to Shadwell DLR & Overground or a 10 minute bus takes you to the Aldgates. Whitechapel is about a 15 minute walk. The N15 is the nightbus from Central, but there’s others. There’s HEAPS of Boris bikes right outside as well so everywhere is easy to get to.
