Description
Hi there,
£1,500pcm Bills Included | Choice of Bedroom + Shared Spare Room | E14 | Available 15 June
We're a couple looking for a new flatmate to join us in our 3-bedroom apartment in E14, just off Burdett Road. The flat is within easy walking distance of Mile End (18 mins walk) and Westferry (12 mins walk), with a big Lidl, Tesco Express, the canal and Mile End Park all close by.
One of the things that makes this place a little different is that you'll effectively have access to 1.5 rooms. You can choose between two similarly sized bedrooms, and there's also a shared spare room that can be used for working from home, hobbies, exercise, storage, laundry or the occasional guest. Our current flatmate works from home from the spare room most days.
We're also happy to discuss rearranging the layout if it makes more sense. Depending on circumstances, the work-from-home setup that Alex uses currently in the lounge may also be moved around or reconfigured.
The Rooms
You can choose between two similarly sized bedrooms. Both comfortably fit a double bed, drawers and additional furniture with room to spare.
The available room is approximately 2.9m x 3m and comes with a very comfortable Nectar double mattress (the departing flatmate described it as the most comfortable bed he's slept on). Drawers are included. The room currently doesn't have a wardrobe, but you're welcome to use the wardrobe that's in the spare room.
The Flat
The southwest-facing side of the apartment contains the lounge, spare room and our bedroom, which means they get plenty of afternoon and evening sun.
There's a decent-sized lounge and a sunny southwest-facing balcony with herbs, berries and other plants, plus space to sit outside and enjoy the afternoon sun.
The northeast side contains the kitchen, bathroom, separate toilet and second bedroom.
About Us
Alex (39) is originally from New Zealand and works as Head of IT for a creative company. He works from home around half the time. Alex has ADHD and comes with the usual mix of enthusiasm, random interests, occasional chaos and half-finished projects (and a bloody amazing balcony garden).
Meg (34) is English and works evenings in front-of-house catering. She often brings home surplus food from work which we're usually happy to share, and it can help keep food costs down. Meg is curious, fun, creative, sometimes introverted and sometimes extroverted.
We both enjoy getting outdoors, travelling, festivals, live music and exploring London. Musical tastes range from hard techno, jungle and electronic music through to folk, indie and metal.
We enjoy the occasional big night out and festival, but this isn't an after-party flat. Friends and family visit, but home is generally somewhere to relax, recharge and feel comfortable. With the occasional drink, of course.
More than anything, we're looking for someone who wants to be part of a friendly home rather than simply rent a room.
We're reasonably tidy but more maximalist and rough around the edges than perfectionist. If you're comfortable in a home that's lived-in, friendly and looked after, we'd love to hear from you.
The Area
1 minute from the canal
Opposite Mile End Park
Close to the River Thames
Walking distance to Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park nature reserve
Excellent transport links across East and Central London
Important
The room is available from 15 June.
Rent is £1,500 per month including all bills.
You won't be added to the tenancy agreement, which we're happy to explain in person. However, you'll be able to register at the address for council tax, banking, GP registration and other local services.
If this sounds like it could be a good fit, send us a message telling us a bit about yourself.
1Gb/s full fibre (may downgrade to 500Mb/s)
Vaping inside is fine.
No smoking inside. Smoking on the balcony is fine.
