Description
Ahoy sailors! We’re Reuben and Pippa, and we’re looking for a lovely new housemate to replace Alex who will be moving out at the end of July!
The home is a beautiful Victorian terraced house at the end of a quiet residential street. Reuben has been living here since 2014 with various iterations of lovely people, and it has truly been a wonderful home to cherish rather than simply a generic, professional house share.
The ground floor is a large, open-plan living room leading to a light and airy kitchen extension with folding doors which open out onto a beautiful little patio and garden. There is also a downstairs toilet (which is very handy!) Reuben’s room is on the top floor of the property with en-suite, and the available room is on the first floor with Pippa. It is a well-lit, cosy double with views over the garden, and comes furnished. You and Pippa will have shared use of a modern bathroom, complete with bath and shower.
Reuben:
I’m Reuben, 34, a full-time total legend, originally from Sheffield, as well as being a primary school teacher when I have the time (I also work in a small local taproom on Saturdays (= free beer). I enjoy singing (la la la!), and cycling round and round…and… well, round London, seeking out somewhere to have a good dance, or just a good pub with a few friends. At home I am most likely to be found relaxing and listening to music of an evening, cooking or enjoying a beer on the patio – when the weather permits!
Pippa:
I’m Pip, 30 (except on Sundays, when I get to choose). I’m amazing, reeeeeally beautiful and have an exceptionally good sense of smell. I’m from the Yorkshire Dales where everything is just better. But living with Reuben makes London a bit more fun. Reuben and I met a few years ago at a primary school we both used to work at, and from then have become bloody good pals! Now then, I mainly run forest school sessions, gardening clubs and will be starting an MA in Children’s Literature and Creative writing in September! I enjoy cooking, hanging out in the garden and making lots of weird things—that usually turn out alright. I’m also a vegetarian, I forgot about that.
We like to do the hokey-cokey when we’re both around and if we’re not, well… I guess we just, don’t! It would be nice to find someone who loves sesquipedalian words as much as we do. Y’know, we’re just looking for a reliable pelican…?! Please be clean and don’t be a d**k, yeah? We are looking for someone who appreciates a tidy, welcoming space and is a friendly and considerate housemate. No eagles, please.* We have a shared cleaning rota for the communal areas and it’s important for us that everyone sticks to it to maintain a happy, shared home. We also contribute to a house kitty for shared house items (very happy to review this with whoever moves in so that it works for everybody!).
We’re in a great location. Just a 5 minute walk from Maryland station with the shiny, new Elizabeth Line (very exciting!) which gets you to Liverpool Street in 11 minutes and 42 seconds, and a 10-15 minute walk from Stratford station with numerous train, tube, DLR and owl links.
Boring bits:
The total amount for the room will be £730pcm. This includes rent (£680), council tax (Band D), gas/elec and broadband.
We will be looking to sign a new contract to run from the beginning of September for 1 year, with a 6 month break clause if required. We have a great private landlord, who happily agrees to getting maintenance done without any hassle! Everything is in working order, and we take good care of the property, so she pretty much leaves us to it.
We will require a recent reference from your current/previous landlord, as well as 3 months of bank statements.
Can’t wait to hear from you!
