Description
Hello London! I’m looking for a like-minded human to share this beautiful, warm, and thoughtfully put-together home with. I’ve lived here since 2019 and have lived in shared spaces since I was 16, so I've come to really value an inviting and easeful atmosphere at home. Key words would be mutual respect, lightness, and a balance of genuine connection and independence.
ABOUT ME
I’m a 32 year old Nigerian/American/British woman, creative, curious, and rather lowkey. I love art, culture, and interesting conversation. I've lived all over the world, speak fluent French and Spanish, and have been living in East London now going on 7 years. I work for a music charity based in Shoreditch and love sewing, crocheting, reading, spending time with friends, enjoying live music, travelling, listening to podcasts, and visiting art galleries/museums.
I’m very independent and therefore will be respectful of your personal space. But I'm equally really up for cultivating a friendship and doing activities together in and out of the flat, and even meeting each other's friends/loved ones when that felt right.
I’m looking for someone who enjoys both quiet coexistence and the occasional shared meal, chat, or day/night in/out.
ABOUT THE FLAT
It has a calm, aesthetically considered feel without being staged or precious. Friends always comment on how inspiring and inviting it feels. It’s a space that I've intentionally 'curated' over the years, and I hope promotes comfort, creativity and overall wellbeing. I'd hope that whoever moved in would take pride in it as well, and feel inspired to co-create a happy atmosphere here :)
It’s very easy to keep clean and organised, and I care a lot about maintaining that, but all with a sense of ease, in a “we both respect this space and enjoy making it feel good” way. When it comes to how we coexist and keep the space, I'm thinking more shared values, not strict rules.
I'm looking for someone who is equally into structure and keeping an aesthetic and calming home environment. It's important for me that overall maintenance (cleaning, replenishing supplies etc) be shared, and I appreciate someone who is naturally conscientious, competent, and able to see what needs doing without being asked.
PRACTICAL DETAILS
The room available for sublet has its own en-suite bathroom with a shower, a comfortable double-bed, and lots of storage. The bedrooms are on opposite sides of the flat, so there's a nice amount of privacy.
Available from late Dec/early Jan for at least 6 months and up to 18months.
Monthly costs: £980 rent, £100 bills (includes energy, broadband and council tax (band C))
Deposit: £800
I would consider a couple, but you'd have to gauge whether there'd be enough space for you in the room. The cost of bills would also be higher if 3 of us were living here.
Sorry, as much as I adore cats, this flat isn't suitable for pets.
ABOUT THE AREA
The flat is in a secure high-rise building overlooking a beautiful park, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Roman Road. It's near great destinations like Columbia Road, Victoria Park and the Regent's and Lea Canals. It's only a 5 minute cycle from Genesis Cinema, so great for catching a £3 film on Wednesdays ;)
It's also really conveniently located with all the major supermarkets accessible within 15mins, corner shops and a post office around the corner, gyms, Stratford Westfield shopping centre, and more a short journey away.
Very well connected by major transport links including: Central, Hammersmith & City, District and Elizabeth lines, Bethnal Green and Cambridge Heath overground stations, and buses to Tottenham Court Road, Paddington, Canary Wharf, Walthamstow, Finsbury Park and more.
WHO WOULD BE A GREAT FIT?
Someone who is:
⦁ Mature, considerate, and mindful in shared spaces
⦁ Naturally clean and organised (no need for reminders)
⦁ Creative or intellectually curious
⦁ Independent but warm, and social when the moment calls for it
⦁ Excited to co-create an atmosphere of ease and inspiration at home
⦁ Comfortable with hosting the occasional friend(s), dinner, or gathering
If (and truly only if) this sounds like your ideal environment, I’d love to hear from you! Tell me a bit about yourself, your interests, and what you’re looking for in a shared home. The right fit matters more to me than rushing the process.
Happy hunting!
