Description
We have a small double room coming available from 1st Nov, in our warehouse in Fish Island (Hackney Wick).
All bills included - weekly cleaner, paper towels, toilet rolls, soap, surface cleaners, common oils, salt, pepper etc.
The room is nice and cool in the summer, cosy and warm in the winter, and connects onto our big, bright common space, which has three storey high ceilings. The room is one of the smallest in the house, and has one window onto the main space, but NO EXTERNAL WINDOW.
We have:
- good central heating,
- gas cooker,
- washing machine,
- tumble dryer,
- bathroom with a bathtub/shower,
- second toilet,
- guestroom for the use of all of the housemates.
We are a very friendly and close collection of kind and caring housemates. We are 9 lovely humans in total. We are a Safer Spaces, queer/LGBTQIA+ friendly, and diversity driven household.
Ours is not a party house, but the parties in the neighbourhood are not hard to find, and we often join in. At home we like to keep things more calm and collected. We are a house that likes to cook, and enjoy cooking and eating together - we hope you’ll be up for that!
We also have a projector, and enjoy watching films, sharing a drink or two, or a cup of tea, and providing mutual support, mutual aid, and many giggles. People cook for each other, and clean-up after each other, help each other, look out for each other, and try not to get in each others' way (or to leave our mess behind us!)
We are looking for someone who wants to be an active member of the household, taking initiative to help keep the place running smoothly, maybe with some DIY know-how or willingness, and feel like the house would suit them well.
Accessibility points:
One small step into the house, 13 steps to shared balcony space, standard door width, narrow hallway, room currently has a high bed, no grab bars in bathroom, toilet, stairs.
Please no couples, no under 25s, or short-term lets, and no pets. Sorry, we have housemates with allergies.
Preference is given to BIPOC* and mixed ethnicity or race, over 25, and masc energy (currently 4 women, 1 femme enby, 3 men atm hence wanting to balance it out!).
*we acknowledge that the use of 'people of colour' and 'BAME' does not necessarily serve all individuals within the diverse groups we are trying to reach, and we apologise if this isn't appropriate for you.
There are three rounds to our process: the initial viewing, leaseholder video chat, and meet-the-housemates.
