Description
Hello everyone,
I have one double room available from the first week of February in my London Fields flat, with private use of large bathroom.
THE ROOM
The room has a floor to ceiling window and a door onto the large balcony (north facing, but it does get sun in the summer evenings) which is shared by the living room and my room. Your room has large built in wardrobes. The bathroom is right outside your room and has a bath and a shower, heated towel rail. It's worth mentioning that the underfloor heating isn't going to blow you away, the building is excessively energy efficient so it doesn't really go above 22/23 degrees. So if you're very sensitive to cold maybe this one isn't for you. That said, I never really use the heating, it's a well-insulated building.
THE BUILDING
It's part of a development called The Fisheries which has workspaces below (for a princely sum, you too can work from there). We have a concierge Mon-Fri who helps out with deliveries amongst many other things. The flat itself is a 7 year old very high-spec build, including underfloor heating, high concrete ceilings, exposed brick, wooden floors, a washing machine and a dishwasher. We’ve got a 65” tv, Sonos surround, an Alexa that regularly interrupts your conversations or plays Murder on the Dancefloor without being asked, a PS5 and plants that need urgent attention. It also has a bike store. Council Tax band: D.
THE AREA
It’s generally a quiet area, away from the noise of Mare St but directly next to the park, with small businesses in the railway arches - E5 bakery, antiques shop, gyms, breweries, restaurants… You’ve got Broadway Market/Regent's Canal within a 5 minute walk, and as many bars, cafés, bakeries, cinemas and supermarkets as you can shake a stick at. It has an aptly named off-license very close by ('So Local'), and a Lidl/an Iceland within a few minutes' walk.
GETTING AROUND
It actually is 'by London Fields station' as advertised - a 2 minute walk from which you can get to Liverpool St in 8 mins, or any of the buses from Mare St if you want to travel further afield. Hackney Central is a 10 min walk away which connects to the Victoria line via Highbury & Islington. It’s a 1 minute stroll to London Fields itself, with all the dogs, the Pub on the Park, the lido etc.
THE OTHER HOUSEMATE (me)
I’m 34, I work as an artist and do some freelance work when I can get it, and will generally be around most days, though also try to get out of the house every day. I'm pretty quiet and am an expert at entertaining myself. I enjoy playing music (you'll have to put up with me practising piano and guitar, though I do have headphones), film, exercise, football, art, video games, drinking, eating, reading, staying in, going out, travelling etc., all the usual things. I like to keep the house a clean and quiet place to come back to.
My partner comes over at weekends occasionally, but I'll also be at hers a couple of nights a week.
YOU
This place would suit someone calm, clean and independent (by which I mean, you are happy doing your own thing/ideally don't work from home that much as I'm at home most days). Despite sounding like an antisocial hermit in this ad, I'd be keen to hang out in the evenings/get into a series (currently The Traitors), or do our own things. I previously found five great housemates and friends through this SpareRoom ad so let's make it 6.
Please get in touch if this sounds like somewhere you want to live.
