Large double bedroom on the first floor of a 3-storey period home in a beautiful part of London on the Islington / Hackney borders.

The room includes a double bed, wardrobes, chest and large window. Sole use of a bathroom. A separate study room would be available if required.

A cleaner comes to the property once a week. Good Wi-fi and the house has its own pretty garden.

Amazing location in the heart of north London. There are many local bus services, and the property is a 12-minute walk to Essex Road station and 5 minutes to Haggerston Station.

What the Opportunity involves:

In return for the low-cost accommodation (£199 pm), we are looking to match our lovely homeowner with a quiet and kind sharer; someone who will provide a reassuring presence at night, some stimulating companionship and practical support (approx. 10-15 hours per week). No personal care is permitted in a Homeshare.

Our friendly and engaging homeowner is in her 80’s. She lives independently since being widowed over 10 years ago. She has two daughters who live locally and three adult grandchildren – they are a close knit and supportive family.

She has an 11yr old cat and both her daughters have small dogs that visit occasionally.

She sometimes feels a bit wobbly on her feet and uses a stick to get around at home, but she is generally in good health and super sharp. She mostly stays at home, having lost a bit of confidence during the pandemic.

Our homeowner had a successful and interesting long career as a journalist and has enjoyed living in many different countries over the years. She leads a quieter life nowadays and is currently working on a novel.

She likes to spend time in her study writing every day; she enjoys listening to the radio and watching BBC dramas and plays. The family try to get together on a regular basis to watch a film together and she has good friends who pop in to see her for meals sometimes.

She is looking to share her home with a quiet, discreet female sharer who would also enjoy some companionship and also respect her need for space.
She is keen to share with someone who is interested in world and current affairs and open to discussion and sharing opinions. She is bright and well educated and enjoys learning about the developments in the modern world from equally curious individuals.

Our ideal sharer would work outside of the home, or on a hybrid basis, and would be happy to help with some local shopping or errands, putting the bins out, reading the meters, and cooking and sharing a meal together a couple of times a week.

The sharer would need to be comfortable around both cats and dogs.

**Cost - £199 per month**

This is a monthly facilitation fee for our matching and ongoing monitoring service. You do NOT pay any rent to the Homeowner. Bills are included, although you may be asked to make a modest contribution to the Homeowner towards the energy bills, and council tax if you are working.
