Description

I have a double room available for rent in my family house.

The first and most important thing is that you must like and want to live with animals, as we have 6 cats, 1 large dog, 2 snakes and a load of tropical fish. it is preferable that you have owned or lived with animals before, and are therefore familiar with all the chaos that goes with living with pets. After that, you must be able to cope with a house that is a work in progress, as with any old house, there is quite a lot to be done, from small decorating jobs, to larger projects and while I try to keep mess to a minimum, sometimes that is not possible. so, if you’re a person who really likes their surroundings to be clean and organized, then we would not match. Also, everyone in the house has non standard work hours, so if you are particularly sensitive to noise, again not a good match as it is possible for people to be returning from work at 4 am. not that they are really loud, but sound travels in old houses. Finally, if you are not OK with stairs, or are over 6 ft in height this house is not for you as living accommodation is arranged over 4 Floors (5 flights of stairs) the kitchen has a low ceiling and the floor to ceiling height on a couple of the flights of stairs is also low. (guess Victorians were shorter) and also, I think that they altered the stairs to put in one of the toilets. (The joist structure under the toilet would seem to indicate this)

You would be sharing a large kitchen, a Utility Room, a shower room, a bathroom and toilet combination and two separate toilets, thought one is out of action at the moment, as we have just finished putting in a central heating system, and most of the pipes needed to pass through the floor of the said toilet. It should be back in use by Jan next year. My living room is available for chats and watching TV, though most tenants, to date, have preferred to stay in their rooms, and meet in the kitchen. There is no outside space with the house, only a small front yard (garden), but the front steps are sheltered enough for you to sit out there and watch the world go by without being noticed by passers-by. If anyone knows about gardening, that would be a bonus, as though I try with the front yard, Im not very good, and would welcome some input.
Finaly, we have two internet connections, and an ethernet outlet in each room, so, in theory, there should always be access to the internet, and it should be suitable for working from home for a number of days a week if required.
There are rules for living here, mainly so that everyone knows what to expect. The house rules form part of the contract for renting a room here and if you are intreasted, after viewing, I will provide a copy.

Rent includes all services, but excludes a TV licence, which you would have to provide yourself.
