Description
Hello there,
We are two teachers who have a large spare room in our spacious Victorian family home for a lodger.
The room comes fully furnished, and offers a lovely calming space to relax in.
There are two bathrooms in the house, with the one you are using located close to the bedroom and containing a walk in shower.
We also have 3 young children under the age of 12.
Unusually, we are looking to replicate a situation similar to one which we have had in the past with our international student house guests- where a self service breakfast and dinner is provided. So being a lodger. There is an additional charge of £35 (£5/ day)per week for this. Dinner is home cooked and freshly made every day. You may also choose particular days you would like dinner.
A typical weekly menu would be along the lines of dhal and roasted vegetables, tandoori chicken and rice, stir fry with mackerel, jacket potatoes and vegetables, Thai green curry and prawns with rice, and mainly Indian food.
We normally have dinner together with our houseguests, although of course, you may dictate your own eating times!
If you prefer- you may use the kitchen to prepare a light meal as an alternative. Soup/sandwiches/oven use.
We welcome international students. We have also had home students on internships who prefer a family environment.
Due to young children in the house, we have a strict no visitors rule. I’m afraid this is non negotiable.
We are in a fantastic position for public transport. 2 min walk to local bus stop, 10 mins walk will take you to a bus hub with lots of options easy to west and east of the city. 30 mins bus journey to Euston.
Stamford Hill station a 5 min walk, which takes you to Liverpool Street in 15 minutes.
And Manor House tube station in Zone 2 on the Piccadilly line is a short walk or 3 bus stops away.
Also a 15 minutes walk to Stoke Newington Church street, so lots of cafes, parks and restaurants close by.
In fact, we are sandwiched between 3 great Victorian parks: Springfield, Clissold and Finsbury Park.
Dalston and Shoreditch are straightforward bus rides away.
Finsbury Park a 10 minute walk away, with the amazing Woodberry Wetlands accessed by the road behind us.
We are fairly busy people, so if you are an independent person that is looking for a home to live in and enjoy the idea of having dinner in a familial set up, but have your own life and enjoy your own company- then, do contact us!
It’s a family home, so there is a garden, and a large spacious living room that is attached to the open plan kitchen.
We also have a separate living room for just the children.
We live on a leafy residential street, with paid parking restrictions outside.
We provide bedding (bedsheets, blanket, duvet, pillows), and towels- should they be required. There is a washing machine in the kitchen- and airers available for drying clothing in the bathroom.
The room comes furnished with a large double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, lamp, desk and chair. Plus a small sofa!
The only area you need to clean and maintain is the bedroom and the bathroom.
We welcome professionals as well as students having had positive experiences with both.
