Description

We are Cecil (she/her) and Sophie (she/they), both in our late 20s (28/29) and having lived together for three years, we are now looking for two new housemates in our lovely yellow house.

Cecil grew up in London (about 10 minutes away!), plays a lot of rugby and AFL throughout the year, loves dogs, pottery, cooking without a recipe, and left wing politics.

Sophie is from Dublin/Sligo in Ireland, listens to endless podcasts, cycles and enjoys outdoor swimming, crafting and chatting shit about politics/current affairs.

We've lived here together for 3 years and have bedded in and really made the house home. We both like to craft, garden and cook and are keen to continue to co-create and maintain a lovely shared living space with our new housemates. We like to keep the common spaces as clean and tidy as possible so we can all enjoy for shared use - with the emphasis on the place being a convivial shared home. We each cook a meal for the house once per week - so you're sorted for dinner three nights per week. No need to be in for a communal meal four times per week - we often save portions for each other's lunches etc., though we enjoy eating together when we happen to be in.

We're fairly climate conscious and try to reduce plastic in our household items where possible (refilling oil bottles etc) and we don't really cook meat in the house - though we're not round the clock veggie/vegan ourselves!

We enjoy hanging out with each other over shared meals, garden planning, the odd movie night, or just chilling on the couch with a book, but also enjoy our own space and both need downtime after work etc.

We both have busy social calendars, but are not a party household (and generally speaking it’s worth noting that this is a street of young families, so loud noise late at night is pretty much out). We have been known to throw the odd birthday bash with sufficient notice to neighbours, and we have dinner parties, brunch and summer BBQs when the mood takes us (with due consideration for each other's space and schedules). We hope you'll feel welcome to have friends over and enjoy the house as your home along with us.

It's been known for partners, serious or otherwise, to spend the night periodically, up to a couple of nights per week. Generally speaking, we try to balance the time so that partners feel welcome to come and go without unofficially moving in ;) In a similar vein, Sophie sometimes has family come to stay for a night or two (in her room).

We operate a very safe space policy around mental health and are mindful of each other's differences, as well as good and bad days, with the aim of fostering an understanding and supportive environment. We hope you’ll enjoy and contribute to this atmosphere too <3

We have a great relationship with the landlords (who live across the road) and they are always on hand to help with any issues.

If this sounds like your vibe, please get in touch with a message about yourself! And mention the word WATERMELON in your message, so we know you've read our message :)

Room 1: (£822*) - available early/mid-September
The first room is an L-shaped attic floor room. It’s nice and big, while simultaneously being cozy due to the sloping ceiling around the bed. It has blackout blinds, space for a desk and wardrobe and you have your own bathroom just next door.

Room 2: (£718.25*) - available from 11th August
This is a ground floor room beside the kitchen and sitting room. It has a generous mezzanine bed, with space to stand up underneath it (if you’re not super tall). There is a big window looking out over the garden (complete with window box) and an en-suite bathroom.

*These prices are before bills and Council Tax. We are council tax band D - all our bills work out to roughly an additional £100/month :)
