A friendly, elderly gentleman with reduced mobility and poor memory is seeking a Sharer for their home to give them a mix of up to 15 hours’ help and company each week in exchange for the low-cost accommodation.

He would primarily value the friendly reassurance and company of having someone around their home in the evenings and overnight. He would also like a little general practical help around the home such as picking up shopping, cooking and sharing an occasional meal, helping him use the microwave, checking he is okay and alerting his family to any problems, a friendly chat, light cleaning and tidying and ad hoc practical help and errands as may be needed. He is also well supported by family and a close friend who visit regularly.

The accommodation on offer is a single bedroom furnished with a single bed, large wardrobe and bedside table. There is potentially space for a small desk. The main bathroom is shared (although the householder also has their own en-suite shower), as is the kitchen and sitting room. There is also a spacious balcony with table and chairs, and you would be welcome to grow some potted herbs or plants if you enjoyed doing that.

The property is in an excellent location in Parliament Hill, less than 2 minutes’ walk from Hampstead Heath overground station, 13 minutes’ walk to Belsize Park Underground and 15 minutes’ walk to Hampstead Underground. There are also several bus routes. The wonderful open space of Hampstead Heath is just a short walk away too.

The gentleman reads the Guardian enjoys crime dramas on TV, is a Labour Party member and enjoys meals out with family and friends. He does smoke a pipe in the sitting room, so this would only suit someone who would be happy to live with a pipe smoker.

As a Sharer you are free to work or study as long as you have enough spare time to give the agreed level of company and support. The ideal Sharer will be a positive, friendly, kind, helpful and reliable person who ideally shares some of the person’s interests.
