Description

This is a lovely 1850s cottage in a quiet leafy street. Right on the NW3/NW5 border, close to Queens Crescent market, Royal Free Hospital and Parliament Hill Fields. The owner is British and lives overseas but stays here for 3 to 5 short visits per year.

You have the whole of the top floor of the house (30 sq. metres), which includes large bedroom with king-size bed, shower room and roof terrace. It is south-facing and very light and sunny.

Our current house-mate is leaving after 8 years (the previous house-mate was there for 6 years and remains a good friend). She writes: “I am moving from this house after great many years, it very much was my home. This includes one and half year of lockdown and working from home during which I felt blessed to live in a comfortable house in a street where the community is friendly and caring, I will miss this neighbourhood. The surrounding area is absolutely fantastic with the Heath in our backyard. And of course Graham, this is a privilege to live in your property as you made me feel at home, you are the kindest, most generous and friendliest landlord one could have dreamt of. I am moving on to a new chapter in life but I will keep those memories forever with me and think of those years with a smile, always with a smile, it's been such a great experience. How emotional is it to leave!”

I have one other house-mate, a professional German lady. She and I have our own bedrooms and share the large house bathroom. We are quiet, work hard, travel a lot and keep the house tidy. We do not see each other so much but like it when we do and occasionally eat or go out together. We sometimes meet up with previous tenants.

We all share the rest of the house: sitting room, which has a double sofa-bed for guests, study, kitchen/dining room in bright conservatory, hall and stairs, small front patio garden.

Quadrant Grove is a lovely street where we have occasional street parties, there’s an active and supportive WhatsApp group and there have been cinema clubs and drinks parties. Bus routes 24 (West End) and 46 (City) have stops just round the corner; Belsize Park, Gospel Oak, Kentish Town and Kentish Town West stations are all within 15 minutes’ walk. There are shops just round the corner and Queens Crescent, with its shops and traditional market, is a few minutes away. Camden Town is about 15 minutes’ walk or a few minutes on either bus route.

We are looking for a professional person who is a decent person and considerate as a house mate. We prefer someone who intends to stay long-term – my last 5 house-mates stayed here for 8, 8, 6, 5 and 5 years respectively.

The rent is £1390 per month, which includes everything, including community charge and wifi, except a share of the cost of our cleaner.
