Description
I'm looking to fill the second room in my house on the Camberwell Peckham Border - the current housemate is moving abroad for work, so time to refresh the ad and start the search.
The house - late Georgian / early Victorian terrace, converted in the 70's into the upper 'maisonette' (my place - which feels like a house in its own right) and basement flat (now a rental, whose tenants come and go). Two living rooms downstairs (one of which has a sofa bed) along with the kitchen, and upstairs are the two bedrooms and a (biggish, by inner London standards) bathroom.
The room - good sized (I think - 12' by 10') double, comes furnished (bed, desk, chair, chest of drawers, built in wardrobes). Available November.
The street/area - quiet street with friendly neighbours, around 2 minutes walk from Peckham Rd (24hr buses to... anywhere you could possibly want to go, really) and about 10 mins walk to Peckham Rye station. Area is up and coming (arguably up and come, now), diverse, gritty (in its own charming way) and has all the usual facilities within an easy walk. There is permit parking available on the street and bike storage lockers nearby.
Me - I'm 44 now (yikes), regulatory lawyer, Australian, gay, and have never fully gone back to the office post Covid - so whoever takes the room will have the place to themselves for a lot (~50%?) of the time. My husband (60, British, consultanty stuff, lives outside London - we each already had a house before we got together and for various reasons kept both going) is sometimes with me, depending on various other things. We lost our dog last year but will probably get another one sometime next year (so if you plan to stay longer than a year or so, you'll need to be at least dog-tolerant if not dog-friendly).
Rent - includes all the bills (gas, electric, broadband, council tax, Netflix, water) and a weekly cleaner (who doesn't mind doing washing, ironing, etc).
New housemate - I'm open minded about this. Would probably prefer another gay male (but that isn't absolute and shouldn't put others off talking to me), broad-minded/unshockable, dog-friendly, ideally likely to stay for a while (housemate hunting is pretty much my least favourite activity) but also happy to discuss short stays or part time (eg. Mon-Fri) arrangements - get in touch and we can talk about what you're looking for.
I reply to all queries and have a video viewing available (recorded during the pandemic but it gives a sense of the place, I think).
