Description
The area:
Penge is a bit like the unassuming middle child between bohemian Crystal Palace and social-climber Beckenham. It’s recently come out of its shell and surprised everyone with a ton of new breweries, coffee roasters and record shops in addition to some good old community institutions like the cycle club, plant-café Alexandra Nurseries and Maple Road Market. Wild swimming in Beckenham Place Park Pond is half an hour cycle away. I hear there’s even good schools around, but if you’re like me (mid-30s childless live-in landlady), that won’t be at the forefront of your mind.
The neighbourhood:
The house is located on a relatively quiet road close to a big Aldi. There’s a 20 min train into Victoria from Kent House, as well as good connections to East London via Anerley Overground. Other nearby stations include Birkbeck and Clockhouse, which get you straight into London Bridge. Crystal Palace Park is 15 minutes away (if you’re a fast walker), and there are several lovely green spaces in walking distance, such as South Norwood Country Park, Cator Park and Betts Park. There’s free on-street parking.
The House:
The house is a 3-bed with a generous kitchen, big lounge and a sunny garden. There is also a separate snug in the loft with a telly and a sofa if you want to binge watch something by yourself all weekend. I’m happy to add a desk for WFHmers.
The double bedroom is sunny and has a view of the garden. There is a double bed, wardrobe and cupboard, which I can swap out if you want to bring your own furniture instead.
The Flat Share:
If you like comedy, books, art, nature, ponies, herbal teas, coffees in the sunshine, Yoga with Adriene, cheese and pollinators there’s a high chance we’ll get along.
Non-negotiable:
Reasonably tidy and considerate. I’m not asking for Mary Poppins here, but you shouldn’t be above wiping down the kitchen surfaces when you’re done cooking or using a loo brush when you’re done - well, you get the idea.
I'd love to live with someone who is LGBT friendly. cat friendly and generally friendly. I’m a bit on the eco-warrior side. You’ve been warned.
There are two cats, so sadly this isn't a place for people with allergies. If you’re happy to occasionally give them cuddles and kibble, even better!
General vibes:
Pretty calm. I reckon I’ve done about 80% of my lifetime quota of partying. Plus, I work in telly which can be mad hours, so the house definitely isn’t Tiger Tiger circa 2014.
Council tax band is D.
