Description
We're looking for someone lovely to join our houseshare near Barnes Station.
Ideally, we’re looking for someone long-term (6m+).
The photos really don’t do this space justice, so please do reach out to take a look.
The Room
... is HUGE. It's closer in size to a small flat than a bedroom.
... is BRIGHT, with large windows overlooking the leafy cul-de-sac outside.
...is FURNISHED, with bed, wardrobe, desk and chair, and built-in bookshelves, thermal blinds, and a low coffee table. I plan to get rid of the under-desk unit and white self-standing bookshelf in the image unless you'd like them.
...is QUIET, set back from any main roads, double-glazed.
... is HOME. I hope it will be for you A place to retreat to and chill out.
The House
… is SPACIOUS. It’s a townhouse, with bedrooms on floors 1 and 2, and shared space on the ground floor.
… is CONVIVIAL, without feeling cramped. 3 out of 4 housemates share the first-floor bathroom (one has an en-suite). There’s a small wc downstairs.
… is GREEN. There’s a garden and patio in the back, and some rose bushes in the front.
… is CLEAN. We clean up after ourselves but aren’t stressed by the odd mug on the side or stray plate. We get a cleaner once fortnightly for mutual areas to avoid too much ‘who did what last?’ admin.
… is AFFORDABLE. Offered under market value. Everything that needs to work works very well. Some of the décor is a smidge dated but low rent > fresh paint.
The Household
… is SETTLED. We’ve been here for a while (since covid) and are looking forward to welcoming someone new who can call this place home.
… is PROFESSIONAL. Current careers range across teaching, event management, and data analysis. We all work hard but work to live!
… is INDEPENDENT: everyone tends to cook their meals (varied schedules and eating habits) but stop to chat and laugh in the kitchen and living room. We will sometimes sneak out for a pub or theatre trip together, though.
… is INTERNATIONAL(ish). English, Spanish, Australian.
… is LOVELY. Excellent human beings, supportive whenever anyone has a bad day, a genuine delight.
The Landlady
…is EXCELLENT. She leaves us to it unless we need something replaced, liaises with the neighbours about garden fences etc.
… is COMPLIANT with new landlord legislation and is up-to-date on all safety certification.
The Transport
Rail: 10 mins from Barnes Station for Southwestern trains to Clapham Junction and Central London (Waterloo, Vauxhall) in one direction, and Kingston, Staines, Egham (for Royal Holloway Uni) in the other.
Bus: Regular buses run along Upper Richmond Road heading to Richmond, Fulwell, Clapham Junction, South Kensington.
Cycle: there’s a garage to store your bike, and so many excellent cycle routes nearby
The Details
Rent: £805 pcm + 1 month deposit
Council Tax: Wandsworth, Band G
Bills are currently £140/month per person, but there's scope to reduce this (we're way overpaying by about £80/month for broadband)
Energy Performance Certificate: C
Are available on request (let me know if nothing’s answered above).
