Description

Hi everyone! Bernard here. Some info about my spare room and about me below.

The room: Very big, 4.92x3.85m. More storage space than you’ll ever need. Comes furnished with a new king-size bed and new firm mattress, new blackout blinds, large chest of drawers, a lamp, bedside table, new rug, new desk, and swivel chair. Situated at the back of the flat, so doesn’t get a lot of traffic noise. New USB sockets on both sides of the king-size bed.

Availability: From late September.

Location: 5 mins walk from Streatham Hill station. 12 mins walk from Streatham station. 2 buses/minute to Brixton, or Croydon in the other direction.

9 mins direct train to Clapham Junction; 17 mins direct to Victoria.

Located just off Streatham High Road which has all the supermarkets, bars, restaurants, gyms, and charity shops you need.

Rent: £1,150 pcm. This includes ALL bills, so no splitting bills at the end of the month. No agency fees. The room is big enough for a couple, and the rent would be £1,400.

Deposit: £1,150.

About me: I am 40, gay male. I am a non-smoker.

I work in a cancer research charity: 2 days from the office, the rest from home. I used to be involved in the LGBT rights movement; now I enjoy running (we’re 15 mins walk from Tooting Common parkrun), reading, buying more plants, baking bread, and planning my next trip.

The flat is mine, and I’ve lived here for 3.5 years. I look after the flat and fix anything that needs to be fixed without delay.

The rest of the flat: Plants in every room. High ceilings throughout. Very big living room (5.23x3.96m). Netflix on the tv that’s included in the rent. Fast internet. A big kitchen with a dishwasher. A balcony, and fire-escape stairs (so 2 entrances to the flat). A bathroom, and a separate loo. More storage space if you need it.

This is not a party flat. I know all our neighbours, and have a good relationship with them.

You: Please be a non-smoker (if you smoke ‘outside only’ we won’t be a match). No drugs.

I’d prefer someone who works from out of the flat at least 2 days/week, like I do.

I had a terrible experience with a former lodger who I asked to leave after 3 weeks because he was an alcoholic who got drunk every day and drunk-texted me 3 times in a fortnight. I will ask you about your relationship with alcohol. I am teetotal other than adding wine to my lasagne. If you get drunk regularly, please look elsewhere.

What else: If you want Donald Trump to be US President, we won’t get along.

Accessibility: We’re on the second floor. It’s a 1930s block with original period features.

Short-term stays welcome.

Let me know if you'd like to organise a viewing :)
