Description
Lovely welcoming furnished double room overlooking the garden in a quiet friendly street close to amenities and transport.
The room has plenty of storage and looks onto the garden so is nice and quiet: the most noise you will hear is that of the birds.
It is on the first floor, there is a bathroom is just next door as well as the second sitting room.
The bathroom is mainly yours to use: I have my own. And as there are two sitting rooms, you’ll likely find you’re mostly using that one (it has TV, Netflix, Wifi etc) as I tend to use the other one more. Unless you’d enjoy watching « so bad they’re funny » old horror films with me…. It’s not so much a question of you stick to your side and me to mine but it does mean two people can have their own living and chilling space.
There’s a big garden by London standards. It has decking, seating, an awning so can be used all year round. And a BBQ. The one issue you may find is the number of neighbours who have their own BBQs and cook the most delicious smelling food!
The street is quiet, well maintained and very safe. The neighbours are lovely, mind their own business but always happy to help if needed so there is a genuinely happy feel to the street.
It’s on a train line which I realise seems alien to most Londoners. But there are plenty of trains, they actually run and you typically get a seat! That plus the commute is short: c.25 minutes into either Victoria or London Bridge, plus one that goes into Shepherds Bush. And easy transfers to the Northern Line, Elisabeth, Victoria, District, and plenty of buses including night buses. Let alone Uber and our friendly, cheap, reliable local taxi rank.
The local high street is less than 5 min away. Beyond the basic shops you’ll need, there’s actually a number of simple, not expensive but surprisingly good little places to eat. There’s also two local gyms (one with pool) and parks. If you want something more « happening », Streatham is just down the road, Clapham (Junction or Common), Croydon, Crystal Palace, Norwood are about 10 min away.
I am a single woman in my late 40s with two (very friendly- if shy) cats. I work from home as both a freelancer and student.
I am an extroverted introvert so genuinely love socialising but also need my quiet time. I will have the occasional dance around and sing-along to cheesy music but am disciplined enough (and embarrassed enough) to do that when you’re out out of the house! I do love my food and enjoy experimenting but most of the time will be studying or working.
I keep a clean and tidy house, and am very conscious of privacy so you won’t find me poking my nose in your room.
I’m incredibly curious so if you have a job/ hobby / background I know nothing about, I’ll ask you lots of questions. I’m happy to be told to shut up!
I’m part French, grew up in Italy and was taught some German so extra bonus if you speak those languages!
I genuinely value trust and “no drama” so more than happy to provide references from previous lodgers if you have any concerns moving into « my » home. My one expectation from you is you respect the property and me.
I have rented to professionals and students and enjoyed both so have no particular preference.
As said: want you to feel ‘at home’. So any questions, ask!
