LITTLE BIT ABOUT US!
The flat is owned by three friends of ours, who are siblings. Two (Ella & Nils) live locally and the third (Albert) splits his time between this house and Sardinia. It's still very much still Albert's home too, so it's important that the right lodger fits with this. The three of them have all lived here and been very happy in the area over the last 14 years.
Matthew is a 32 year old opera singer working as an Office Manager for a Hedge Fund in the City (he works from the office, not home.. unless there's a lockdown!). Matthew has been here 7 years. He's chilled, lovely, fun, friendly, laid back!
Ella and Anthony are a couple who are both in the arts, an opera singer and a lighting designer respectively. They are both very clean, tidy, enjoy quiet nights in, good theatre and opera, cooking and barbecuing (Anthony is an Aussie...). Ella teaches singing as well, so during some evenings, she teaches from the snug upstairs.
We are chilled, very clean, tidy and house proud; enjoy cooking and creating suppers/ordering a cheeky Saturday takeaway, relaxing together as a flat, watching embarrassingly poor TV (as well as the compulsively good stuff!), sharing coffee, brunch trips, long walks, classical and popular music, theatre and films. Having a cosy, relaxing 'home' is very important to us, so we hope you'll agree isn't a *flat share*, but rather a little home-sanctuary!
Our ideal flatmate doesn’t have to be in the arts AT ALL, but an appreciation/understanding/enjoyment of the arts would be lovely so we could explore theatre, film, music etc together. Looking for someone likeminded and wants a real home :)
ABOUT THE FLAT!
The rent for the double room is £1200 plus bills, which are around £100 per month at the moment (gas, electric, council tax, bills, tv licence & broadband). Bills obviously vary with season but they haven't gone much above £100 between 4 people. Split between 3, it will obviously be a bit more, but it's always been very reasonable. Council tax in Wandsworth is the cheapest in the UK <£80/pcm!!
The flat is about 2 mins walk to Tooting station and about 10 mins walk to Tooting Broadway tube. The buses stop outside pretty much right outside the house which is useful. Lots of shops and supermarkets close (and a new M&S!) so weekly shopping is easy.
YOUR ROOM!
Is a beautiful, very large double room in a loft conversion, with large eaves space, has two cupboards with shelves and a large hanging cupboard. Complete with a Juliet balcony, it's a lovely space with plenty of light and airflow. The current tenant has a desk and chest of drawers in the room, so there's lots of space to bring your own desk or chest of drawers too. The bedroom has its own bathroom, which although not directly attached, is only a pace from door to door! It has a large shower, heated towel rail, toilet, mirror and sink with a big drawer underneath. It's a gorgeously chic en-suite, which was put in when the loft conversion was done in 2017.
THE REST OF THE FLAT!
There is a very large shared bathroom downstairs with a bath too. The kitchen/diner has a 2-seater sofa, lovely pale grey table and 4 chairs, TV and chic kitchen (with small dishwasher!). We have a small snug upstairs which is lovely for a cosy winter evening and watching movies. We also have a lovely patio garden with furniture and flowers in the flowerbed! The loft conversion was done in 2017 when we re-carpeted, redecorated and replaced the kitchen and we replaced the boiler in 2023. New UPVC sash windows make it pretty energy efficient, retains heat well in the winter!
