Description

What’s going on Spareroom user? We heard you’re looking for a place so we’ve got something for you.

This ad, however, is somewhat different from the others you may come across, and that is mainly because this is not about a sad group of people trying to find any warm body just to fill a space. Rather, this is more about finding a suitable person that could become a new board member at Daffodil Inc.

Let’s first go through the boring parts:

The Room –

We have one double room (well, would have been terrible start if we didn’t, wouldn’t it) that’s got all the main nonsense in it (e. g. bed, chest of drawers etc).

We can discuss adding/removing items to/from it of course.

This room is located on the top floor, near the shower and WC. It also faces east so it gets a good amount of light during the day.

The room is available from 1st October 2024. In case you need to bring your belongings a couple of days earlier, we can discuss that. We all don’t do yoga but we’re all somewhat flexible #DadJokes

Finances –

The house is let as a whole. This is not a room-by-room set up, so we are all on the same contract. The share of this room in the total rent is £650 pcm. #DontGambleYourRentMoney

Upon moving in, £650 as deposit and £650 as first month rent in advance will be required.

Bills are not included and are dealt with separately. All main bills (e. g. Council Tax H&F band F, Broadband, Gas & Electricity, Water etc.) are split equally. Amount per person may vary month to month, but it’s been averaging around c. £150 per person (thanks to all the lovely utility companies) #PayOrPerish

Location –

We are based in the W12 area #NoOneCaresAboutEastLondon

There are several transport links around. Closest station is East Acton (Central Line, Zone 2) that is c. 7 mins walk away. Acton Central (Overground), Wood Lane (Circle & Hammersmith and City) and Acton Mainline (Elizabeth Line) are few other stations around.

There is plenty of useful amenities around (e. g. supermarkets, local shops, cafes, GPs, dentist, restaurants, pubs, the big Westfield shopping centre etc.).

There is off-street parking available. A permit needs to be obtained from the council.

Now, let’s discuss the more interesting parts.

Whose boots you’re filling?

George, the notorious scientist from Somerset, decided to leave London for Stockholm to do his PhD. We’ll miss him behind the decks mixing his DnB and Breakbeat!
Why is this country letting its brightest talents leave?! #MaterialForBBCQuestionTime

Who else is on the board?

Nima (It’s technically Dr Nima given I have a PhD but I’m so down to earth I’m okay with just being Nima), Outside of my Strategy/Finance work that I do for a global sport broadcaster, I am either training BJJ or write stupid ads on Spareroom.

Emma loves her football (in the football stadiums fans chant her name as Emmanita), works for the Premier League and is always up for a good time. She might seem aloof at first, but trust me, if you play your cards right she'd treat you with some home-made Sushi.

Cristina, the pride of Puglia, has been in the retail part and corporate side of hospitality so she knows everything about food, and is currently a food development chef actually. The only problem is she does not enjoy cooking for other people. If you are nice enough to her though, she'd make you a tiramisu on a semi-regular basis.

Who is our ideal housemate?

What we’re looking for is a working professional who not only fits the administrative requirements but is also on the same page as us when it comes to house-sharing.

This is our home, so we treat it as such. Our parents didn’t have a cleaning rota at home, so we don’t want to have one either. Our house (like any other house) has admin to manage and takes an effort to make it feel like home. We’re here because we want to, not because we have to.

If you just want to house-share to be cost effective, and consider you realm of responsibilities confined to the room you’re storing your personal items in, maybe this is not the right house for you.

Of course, everyone’s got their own personal time, and we don’t necessarily all have to be best friends forever. The main point is having a respectful attitude, being a responsible adult and a reliable housemate.

If you think you’d be a good fit for our house, drop us a message here. Tell us more about yourself and let us know why you like our house. We can then take it from there to arrange a viewing.

We’ll ignore all messages that are clearly copy-pasted and poorly addressed, one-liners such as ‘hey is this available?’ or questions that are clearly explained in the ad.

This ad may seem long at first sight, but technically it is less than 900 words. The average adult’s WPM (word-per-minute) rate is c. 238 words. If you read the ad once and even double check a few details, it should take less than 5 minutes in total. So, no excuses for not reading the ad.

Last but not least, no agencies.
