Double Bedroom Available in Warm, Creative Home

We have a double bedroom available in our four-bedroom house in Canning Town, E13, around a 7-minute walk from Canning Town station. The station is extremely well connected: Jubilee line (Zone 2/3 but charged as Zone 2), DLR straight to Bank, and plenty of buses into the city.

This is not a typical house share — it’s very much a home.

We’re two sisters, Deborah (33) and Melissa (38), and we’ve lived here together for the past 10 years. We’re looking for the right person, not just someone to fill a room.

The house:

Four-bedroom house
Separate living room
Fully equipped kitchen (you’re welcome to use everything)
Two bathrooms
Backyard (great in summer — BBQs, small gatherings, hammock included 🌿)
One bedroom is used as our shared office, as we both work fully remotely

About us:

Deborah – graphic designer
Melissa – social media director / content producer

We love movies, music, dancing, and creative projects at home (ceramics, candle making, and the occasional DJ set from Melissa). We’re lively, chatty, and social, but our late-night party days are behind us (the house party kind of ones haha). That said, we do enjoy the occasional small house gathering or having friends over.

We like spending time together in the living room, sometimes cooking together, having a glass of wine, and enjoying good conversation. Ideally, we’d love to live with someone we genuinely get along with and can build a friendship with.

We’re Portuguese and French, so if you speak either language, that’s a bonus — but definitely not essential.

The room:

Double bedroom, located downstairs (window has a view to the backyard - no street access)
Available from 1st March 2026
Move-in can be anytime from that date (ideally closer to the beginning of the month)

If the right person needs to move in a bit later, this can be arranged

The room is currently furnished, including:

Double bed + double mattress
Blackout curtains
Small desk and chair
Large mirror
Wardrobe
Small chest of drawers

If you’d prefer the room unfurnished, this can also be arranged.

Rent & bills:

£850 per month + bills
Bills usually range between £120–£150 per month, depending on the season

Bills include: internet, gas, electricity, heating, and council tax

Other important bits:

We have a 10-year-old cat, Panda — he’s the king of the house 🐾
We are smokers and do smoke inside the house, so this is important to be comfortable with
We’re ideally looking for a woman aged 27–42
Someone clean, respectful, emotionally mature, and who enjoys keeping a home cozy and well cared for
Melissa travels a lot for work, so a lot of the times it would just be us 2 in the house :)
We would love to find someone who wouldn't mind taking care of Panda when we are away together (which can happen at least twice a year)

This suits someone who wants a friendly, communal home — not a silent or anonymous house share
