A spacious ensuite double bedroom in a 2-bed 2-bath apartment in the lively East Village neighbourhood of Stratford.
Dates: Looking for someone to move into my room starting 1st February. February is the last month of my current lease, so you would preferably sign a new 1-year lease with my existing flatmate starting 1st March.
More about the flat: It’s a 4th floor apartment with a big balcony, and gets plenty of natural light throughout the day. The room comes with a huge private ensuite bathroom. Other essential household appliances (washing machine+dryer, dishwasher, microwave, iron, vacuum, etc.) come with the flat. The flat originally came unfurnished, and we have furnished it ourselves in the last couple of years. The living room comes furnished as seen in the photos. For the bedroom, I have a double bed-frame, mattress and chest of drawers that I am willing to sell for £50.
Your potential flatmate: He’s friendly, easy-going, tidy, and likes keeping shared spaces clean. He gets on well with his housemates and enjoys being social - whether that’s going to the gym together, heading out for drinks, gigs or theatre, or staying in to cook together, watch films, or play board games. He works from home around four days a week, but is considerate about shared space and noise. He values his own space and downtime, and thinks a good flat has a nice balance between being social and respecting each other’s space. Ideally, he’s looking to live with someone who enjoys creating a relaxed, friendly home atmosphere. Outside of work, he enjoys staying fit (gym, HIIT, yoga, tennis, squash, cycling, hiking), alongside painting, photography, cooking, and exploring London, and is always keen to try new things. (And yes, his cooking — especially Indian food — is a definite plus.)
Neighbourhood: The apartment is very close to Westfield Mall with lots of amazing cafes, restaurants and bars around in East Village and Hackney Wick. There are many grocery stores nearby: Sainsbury’s, Nisa, and Doufu all within a 2mins walk from the flat, and larger stores (Waitrose and M&S) are in Westfield. It’s also next to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park with lots of greenery, nice walking/running trails, and sports facilities & gyms.
Nearest Stations:
• Stratford International (DLR and High-speed rail): 5-7 mins walk
• Stratford (Jubilee, Central, Elizabeth, DLR, Overground, National Rail): 10-15 min walk
Rent: £1350 pcm (or £1500 pcm for couples). Advertised rent includes council tax (which is payed by the landlord). The landlord has mentioned there may be a small adjustment next year depending on any changes to service charges for the area, but nothing has been confirmed yet and he’ll confirm as soon as possible.
About the landlord: Private landlord who is friendly and responsive. Very prompt in helping out if there are any maintenance issues. We have never had any issues with him in the 2 years that we have lived here.
