Description
My lovely flatmate is buying a houseboat so will be moving out on 11th January and I am looking for someone to replace her on our contract - the room is available from 12th January 2025, and the contract ends 20 April 2025, with the opportunity to renew for year.
THE ROOM/FLAT:
Small but cosy and quiet double room available in a newly renovated ground floor victorian flat in Oval.
The room comes furnished with double bed, bedside drawers and standard wardrobe. There is also a storage cupboard under the stairs opposite the room which you can use exclusively.
My room has an en-suite, so while the main bathroom is not en-suite, you will have exclusive use of it.
The flat has a modern kitchen with breakfast bar (and dishwasher!) It leads out onto a lovely and quiet garden/patio which gets the sun at the back.
Spacious living room with a 4 seater dining table. There is some storage and shelving here for you to use also.
Rent does not include bills.
Council tax band C
Bills (including council tax) come to approx £200 per month each.
Original contract is 21-April 2024-20 April 2025.
ID and credit checks will be required with managing agent.
AREA:
Oval is a great area - incredibly well served by transport with the Northern line (Oval station) about 8 minutes walk away and Stockwell station (Victoria line) is only 15 min walk away. Vauxhall is also about a 20 min walk away with National rail links.
Busses to everywhere on Clapham and Brixton Road going to Oxford Circus, Holburn, Victoria, City, Old Kent Rd, Elephant & Castle, Battersea, Queens Park, Streatham, Tooting, Crystal Palace Lewisham and New Cross Gate!
The hustle and bustle of Brixton and Clapham are about 25 min walk (or quick bus trip) away. The flat feels incredibly central; Central london is also easily walkable. Kennington Park is around the corner and there are plenty of shops and gyms and supermarkets nearby.

I’m a 40 year old friendly gay guy from Newcastle. I work as a Consultant in the Petrochemicals Industry. I've lived in the flat coming up to 2 years now and will likely renew in April.
I work in the office usually on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I work the rest of the week at home – pretty much 9-5. I’m a big foodie and love to cook and eat out. Love exploring cafes and pubs of London. Really into indie cinema – the BFI is a fave. I speak Spanish (bit rusty now) but lived in Spain many years ago. Like going out to gigs/music festivals. But not all the time! Need my rest! I like getting involved in the LGBTQ community – from Pride committees at work, to local LGBTQ forums. I really like contemporary art and photography. Also love travelling (particularly trying all the local food!). Like to get out and about in the countryside also - long walks etc.
ABOUT YOU:
I’d like a flatmate who wants the flat to feel like a home. It would be great to chill and share some wine watching Netflix, share a meal now and then or entertain friends occasionally. I need at times to chill out in my room too, so respect of each others privacy is a must. But overall looking for a relaxed easy going flatmate who is clean and considerate and LGBT friendly.
