Double room in a characterful converted Victorian

Hi there,

I'm looking for someone to join the house at our converted Victorian pub in Rotherhithe. I've lived here for over 20 years, in a separate flat on the ground floor, and I look after the building. A second room is likely to be available soon too.

Please read first.

The house is licensed for eight, but four people live here at the moment, and it won't go above six. The house's future beyond next summer is under review while decisions about building works are made, so for now I can only offer the room until summer 2027. It suits someone who wants a great place to live for the next ten months or so.

The household.

It's a sociable house, and the current housemates would love someone who wants to become a friend, not just a housemate. It isn't a party house, but they enjoy dinners together, TV nights in the lounge and the odd meal out or trip to the pub. It wouldn't suit someone who keeps to themselves all the time. Everyone is a working adult in their mid-twenties to early thirties, so I'd prefer another professional. Sorry, no couples. I do ask that you're tidy, clean up after yourself and respect the shared spaces.

The room.

It's ready to move into. It has a double ottoman storage bed, a recently upgraded large mirrored sliding wardrobe, a curved desk with shelving, a ceiling light with a fan, a radiator and two good-sized windows.

The house.

It was renovated from top to bottom during the pandemic. There's a big, well-equipped kitchen with three fridge freezers, a double oven and every utensil you could need. The lounge has a huge smart TV, and there are three bathrooms with power showers. There are two washing machines with tumble dryers, and gigabit fibre with mesh Wi-Fi that easily handles working from home and streaming. All bills are included, plus a weekly cleaner for the communal areas.

Location.

It's about 90 seconds' walk to Rotherhithe station (London Overground) and five minutes to Canada Water (Jubilee line and bus station). Central London, Shoreditch and Peckham are all around 10 minutes by train. There are loads of good pubs nearby, two big parks and a large Tesco 10 minutes away. Maltby Street Market and the Bermondsey Beer Mile are about 20 minutes' walk.
